Annual special topic luncheon at the Burgundy Basin Inn:
PATIENT-DRIVEN PAYMENT MODEL (PDPM)
Medicare Part A Reimbursement
The new PDPM is expected to be a success for both nursing homes and residents receiving Medicare Part A. The PDPM is driven by care needs rather than therapy minutes (value over volume). Rehabilitation outcomes will be the key for future action. There is a potential to save a lot of money for health care. But, the inter-disciplinary team must focus on diagnosis, the unique characteristics and needs of the customer, and correct coding in the Minimum Data Set (MDS) in order to get the maximum reimbursement rates.
What is the clinical impact for customers needing rehab services?
What is the financial impact on facilities relative to reimbursement?
