Survey on Drug Use and Health
, 20.3 million people ages 12 and older struggled with a substance use disorder in 2018. Of that number, only an estimated
3.7 million people
, or approximately 18%, received substance abuse treatment. The survey also reveals that about
2 out of every 5 people
who needed treatment but didn’t receive it weren’t ready to stop using.
That’s what make professional interventions so important. Most people struggling with addiction are in denial about addiction’s effect on their lives so they refuse or avoid treatment. Interventions help people realize how addiction shapes their body, mind, relationships, and way of life.
