March 2020 Issue

CPWC Members,CPWC Members,

It's official, the CPWC is 50 and fabulous! We loved connecting with so many of you at the anniversary party in February. Thank you to Julie Lischer, who chaired the event, and her committee; Jane Coker Harm, Pat Iaffaldano, Jean Ann McCarthy, Cynthia Meyer, Amanda Spence, and Janet Thomas. You created a beautiful event to honor the CPWC.

A highlight of the evening was awarding Sue Bauer with a Lifetime Achievement award. Sue is a beloved member of our community, and past President, who shared her time in so many ways to sustain our organization.

We also want to thank Beverly and Robert Dozier for making a donation to cover some gala expenses. We appreciate their generosity! You may not know that, to keep the gala ticket price low, your CPWC board approved subsidizing the cost of the event. Which is a gentle reminder that future event prices when we are raising money for charity are likely to be higher!

The first step toward a future fund raiser is to identify board nominees for charity. Please consider volunteering to serve in one of these vital roles. We know that the thought of running a gala auction is daunting. We don't have to have an auction! We welcome taking a new approach to fundraising. If you have a vision for a different kind of fundraiser, we welcome your creative vision and will support your efforts. Please take this possibly into your heart and contact Jean Dole if you feel moved to serve.

Jean Dole, thank you for serving as nominating chair! We appreciate the time that you and your committee (Lindsey Mabey, Jillian Miller, Lynn Thompson, & Kristine Ward) devoted to filling the Board slate for 2020-2021.

Members, please review the proposed slate line. Additional nominations will be accepted through April. If there are competing candidates for any positions, there will be paper ballot at the May meeting. Otherwise our parliamentarian will confirm the slate prior to installation in May.

We hope to see you at the wine tasting on March 20, where we will celebrate the 2000s. We are also looking forward to our Savvy Women Evening Group program at the Cashman's on St Patrick's Day , Tuesday, March 17 from 6:30-8:30pm. The topic will be Planning for a Joyful Retirement with Jackie Dunagan from GROW Counseling. Wear your Leprechaun Derby and Shamrock Glam as we feature Bailey's on the rocks, Irish Mist liquor, and Smithwick's Pints at The Cashman Pub with corned beef sliders, Shepherds Pie and Guinness Cake ☘️ Please rsvp to Chris at [email protected].

We enjoy celebrating this anniversary milestone with you!
Belinda & Chris

"Cheers to 50 Years" Golden Anniversary Gala
View the 50th Anniversary Video

On behalf of the 50th Anniversary Gala committee, I would like to thank our board and membership for a wonderful night of celebration on February 8, 2020 at the Atlanta Country Club. It was a very special night -- an opportunity to come together and honor the many who made our organization what it is today. I hope you will watch the Anniversary Video (approx. 4 minutes) and listen out for some familiar voices.

We were so pleased to present Sue Baer with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Gala. Sue served as CPWC co-president from 2008-2010 as well as charity chairperson and numerous other leadership roles. Sue and her husband Bill, daughter Chelsea, and her fiancé Stu Rast were present to enjoy the evening.

Members danced, enjoyed casino games, visited and toasted the past 50 years! Throughout this year of celebration, many have worked behind the scenes to reflect on our past each month. It has been fun to look back on all who left a legacy for us to follow. Our Women's Club has a rich history as a vibrant non-profit in our community. Whether it's working together on a fundraiser, planning a menu or creating a skit, at the heart of our organization is friendship and connection.

Please click the link below to see the professional photos from the evening.  From the gallery, you will be able to download the images (free digital use) and print on paper, canvas, and metals. Thank you to Joseph Gibson, Over Here photography.
