Summer Classes at FAU
Families, encourage your student to consider enrolling in a summer class or two or three. Florida Atlantic University is committed to helping students progress through their degree and graduate on time or early. The Summer 2020 schedule offers a large selection of on and off campus options including over 350 online, 700+ on campus in Boca Raton, Davie, and Jupiter, as well as faculty led study abroad and internships.

Summer courses taken early in a student’s academic career have a positive impact:
• Lightens the load later in a more intense semester
• Decreases the time to graduation
• Decreases the overall cost of education
• Helps a student focus on a difficult subject
• Broadens global awareness in faculty-led studies abroad
• Helps students meet the state summer enrollment requirement*

Financial Aid is available in summer to eligible students. The Pell Grant program, Florida Pre-paid and Bright Future Scholarships can be used to pay for summer credits!

Housing – Housing contracts are available for the full or half summer starting March 1.

Registration opens: March 23, 2020
For more information visit:

* Florida Board of Governors regulation 6.016 –Students entering a university in the State University System with fewer than 60 semester hours are required to earn a minimum of nine credit hours in one or more summer sessions at one of the state universities in Florida before graduation.
Owls Health Tips
Body Image is comprised of our thoughts, perceptions, and attitudes about our bodies. Having positive or negative body image can affect our mental and physical health. Modelling positive body image, where we see ourselves as we are and accept our bodies, can be a great influence on our students.

Try these steps to model better body image for your student:

  •  Encourage critical thinking: What we see in the media may not always be true. Often, companies are trying to sell a product by making us feel insecure about ourselves. Recognizing this and speaking out about it are important steps. Try following positive influences on social media.

  • Demonstrate a healthy relationship with food and exercise: We all need to eat and move in order to enjoy our bodies. Dieting and exercising to lose weight can harm the relationship we have with our bodies and diminish our own body image. Eating and moving mindfully are great ways to improve our own relationships with these.

  • Build Self-esteem: Setting goals and achieving them helps to build our own self esteem. Encourage your student to strive for their goals and support them along the way. Showing your student that they are loved and supported will have a positive impact in times of higher stress.
