New graduate fellowship established by alumnus estate
A gift from the family trust of UC Irvine alumnus John Duffy ’88, and his wife, Joanna, has established a new graduate fellowship at the Samueli School of Engineering.

have won an Allen Distinguished Investigator Award for their project to develop an advanced imaging technique to simultaneously track and manipulate multiple kinds of cells and molecules.

Julie Schoenung, professor and chair of the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, has been inducted into the 2021 Class of Fellows of The Minerals, Metals & Materials Society (TMS) for her pioneering contributions to the science and engineering of trimodal composites and for novel applications of green engineering.
Han Li named an early career Sloan Research Fellow
UC Irvine chemical engineer Han Li has been awarded a 2021 Sloan Research Fellowship in support of her efforts to convert renewable resources into useful chemicals such as fuels, industrial commodities and pharmaceuticals.

Amy Huynh, a Samueli School senior double majoring in aerospace engineering and mechanical engineering, has won one of only four 2020-21 Women in Aerospace Foundation (WIA) scholarships awarded nationally this year.
