Spring Break 2021 Begins March 15!

SMCC and all Maricopa Community Colleges will be on Spring break between March 15 - 21.

All Colleges and the District Office will be closed on Thursday, March 18 and Friday, March 19.

SMCC Storytellers Take the Virtual Stage March 5

The ASU Virginia G. Piper Center for Creative Writing presents The Big Story: Native Tellers Respond to The Round House featuring SMCC Storytelling Institute tellers Ken Duncan, Violet Duncan, Martha Ludlow Martinez, and Kyle Mitchell.

After sharing each of their stories, tellers will participate in a short panel discussion and answer questions from the audience. RSVP!

The SMCC American Indian Student Center presents Paving the Way Speaker Sessions, bringing indigenous community leaders, elected officials, and professionals to share their stories with students and the South Phoenix community.

App Development 'Hackathon' Open to All Students
ServiceNow invites you to participate in a virtual 5-day Hackathon!

The event consists of an interactive 3-day Application Development training and a 2-day Hackathon from March 15 - 19.

Students will be able to collaborate, problem-solve, and engage both theory and practice in order to "hack" real problems companies face. Students will divide into teams and work together to deliver a finished business application.

HACU Latinx Student Leadership Summit Accepting Application Until March 7

The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities and Google will co-host a Latinx Student Leadership Summit taking place virtually, on April 24, 2021.

Undergraduate student leaders with a passion for technology and an interest in developing their leadership skills are encouraged to apply for the one-day summit.

The summit will be hosted virtually and will include breakout sessions, networking opportunities and activities to help you become part of the Google community.

SMCC Baseball Wins Both Ends of Doubleheader at Yavapai

The South Mountain Community College baseball team (5-1, 2-0 ACCAC) defeated Yavapai College 13-6 (7 innings) and 6-5 (6 innings) in an Arizona Community College Athletic Conference doubleheader in Prescott on Feb. 27.

In the first game, the Cougars scored twice in the sixth to retake the lead and then added seven runs in the seventh to seal the comeback. In game two, the Cougars scored runs in the fifth and sixth to edge the Roughriders and complete the sweep.
