Celebrate Spring!
Greetings from the Harraseeket Inn! We hope this newsletter finds you healthy and well, and ready to hear some long awaited news. We're thrilled to announce that our governor has dropped the quarantine and Covid testing requirements for residents of Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island. Hooray! New Hampshire and Vermont were already exempt, but we've long been awaiting the news that our neighbors to the south can head north for a visit. See below for more detailed information on the updated travel-friendly Covid regulations. One important caveat: the social distancing and mask mandates remain, and we are tasked by the state with policing them here at the inn. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation. Nobody enjoys wearing masks, but hopefully this too shall pass. We've missed seeing many of you this past year and look forward to welcoming you back. Please don't hesitate to call us with any questions or for assistance in planning your vacation. We can't wait to see you again!

With the one year anniversary of Covid behind us, now seems an appropriate time to express our humble and heartfelt gratitude for our loyal employees, who have worked with good cheer and perennial optimism through the pandemic to keep the Harraseeket Inn and Broad Arrow Tavern up and running. Josh Cushing, our general manager, has done an outstanding job navigating the ever changing and incredibly challenging business environment the pandemic threw at the hospitality industry. His top priorities were always the health and safety of all, and having come on board just as Covid appeared in our lives, his performance has been exemplary. We're equally humbled and grateful for our friends and loyal guests, who have stuck with us during these rocky and uncertain times and often expressed heartwarming concern for the inn and our staff. Your kindness and support have helped us immeasurably. Thank you all.
Welcome back, Dave Duda!
Many of you will remember Dave as the mainstay and anchoring talent in the Broad Arrow tavern for many years. Dave is not only a chef extraordinaire, he's now father to a beautiful baby daughter, Katharine Ann, and husband to my niece Jackie, who also works in the Accounting/HR office of our family business. Innkeeping is a family affair here at the Harraseeket, and it's great to see Dave's friendly face back as our Executive Chef! We're enjoying his daily specials and looking forward to his new spring menu.

Speaking of menus, we're now offering appetizer specials available Monday through Thursday, 3-6 pm. Check out a selection of offerings below, which change frequently. Come on in and sample Dave's menu while tasting one of Chef Ken Collins microbrews freshly crafted at his Freeport Brewing Company!

March roared in like a lion and it's been windy and chilly, but the temperatures are warming, snow is melting, sap is runni and spring is definitely in the air. It's exciting to feel those increasing energy levels return with the strengthening sun and lengthening days. Winter doldrums are banished by this perennial renewal of life. It's time to start those vegetable and flower seedlings for the gardens!

Maine Maple Sunday always falls on the last Sunday in March, and since this is also the month most of us typically go completely stir crazy, how about taking a road trip to visit a sugar house? Banish cabin fever, take a tramp in the sugarbush, breath in the smell of the warming earth, bring binoculars to search for migrating songbirds and raptors, watch maple syrup being made and bring home some sweet maple memories and pure Maine syrup enough to last the year. Check out the sugar shacks participating in this years Maine Maple Sunday (and the great packages listed below) and plan a very sweet retreat to Maine! https://mainemapleproducers.com

A wonderful farm to visit in any season. It's just a few miles from the inn, right next to Wolfe's Neck State Park. Check out their monthly calendar and watch the afternoon milking, gather the eggs from the poultry house or take a goat for a private walk through this beautiful salt water farm. Kids love this place and there are lots of fun activities to choose from and plenty of space for social distancing right on the shores of Casco Bay.

Enjoy a great selection of family oriented and educational outdoor events planned at the park, just a short drive from the inn. Beautiful wooded walking, snowshoeing and skiing trails along the rugged shoreline of Casco Bay. A perfect place to escape the chaos of our modern world. Stop by Wolfe's Neck Farm while you're out there, and say hello to all the pastured animals!
