Valuable Learning Opportunity on April 22 for Nonprofits to Understand Advocacy & Lobbying
The Nonprofit Network has invited the Alliance for Justice to present Nonprofit Know-How: Advocacy & Lobbying 101 on Thursday, April 22, 2021, from 8:30 a.m.-10 a.m. via Zoom. The Alliance for Justice is a leader in advocating for a fair and independent justice system, preserving access to the courts, and empowering people to advocate on behalf of the issues they believe in.
501(c)3 nonprofit organizations play an important role in educating the public about policy issues and actions taken by elected officials. Elected officials vote on bills, make public statements and executive decisions, and set the course for public policy on a wide range of issues. These actions may be consistent with or conflict with a nonprofit's position on an issue. After this workshop you will have a clear understanding of how to maximize your advocacy, the kinds of advocacy activities 501(c)3s can engage in, and when a communication is considered lobbying.
This session is a unique opportunity to learn from experts in the field. The Nonprofit Network is covering the cost of the training so you can attend for free.
Please take advantage of this learning opportunity and register here.

IMPORTANT CORONAVIRUS UPDATES
Attention Nonprofits with Fewer Than 20 Employees
On February 22, President Biden announced that from February 24 through March 9 Small Business Administration and Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) lenders will process loan applications from nonprofits and for-profit businesses with fewer than 20 employees. This round is designed to provide more equitable relief to the smallest businesses and those left behind in previous relief efforts and to help them navigate the application process. If you think your nonprofit is eligible for an initial PPP loan or a second draw loan authorized by Congress in late 2020, contact a lender to find out how much relief may be available. Learn more at SBA.gov. Our gratitude to the Larned A. Waterman Iowa Nonprofit Resource Center for distributing this notice.

Iowa Rent & Utility Assistance Program to Open in March
The Iowa Finance Authority has an eligibility pre-check tool that potential applicants may use to determine if they qualify for the new Iowa Rent and Utility Assistance Program. Full applications will be accepted in March. The program will provide financial assistance to eligible COVID-19 impacted Iowans for rent and utility costs for a period of up to 12 months. The pre-check tool and additional information are on the website here. Our gratitude to the Larned A. Waterman Iowa Nonprofit Resource Center for distributing this notice.

IEDA Launches Third Impact Survey of the COVID-19 Crisis on Iowa Business and Nonprofits
The Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA) once again needs your assistance in gathering information to assess the current impacts of the pandemic on Iowa's businesses and nonprofit organizations. The IEDA invites nonprofits to help Iowa's economic recovery and growth by completing a new survey developed by the University of Northern Iowa's Institute for Decision Making and Strategic Marketing Services. This is a follow-up to the surveys released in March and May of 2020. The partners worked collaboratively to develop this new round of survey questions. Any Iowa business or nonprofit organization can complete the survey at this link. Find the UNI partners list and additional information here. Your participation is again vital to state efforts to understand the impact of the pandemic on Iowa businesses and nonprofit organizations. The deadline to complete the survey is 5 p.m. on Wednesday, March 17, 2021.
