Valuable Learning Opportunity on April 22 for Nonprofits to Understand Advocacy & Lobbying
The Nonprofit Network has invited the Alliance for Justice to present Nonprofit Know-How: Advocacy & Lobbying 101 on Thursday, April 22, 2021, from 8:30 a.m.-10 a.m. via Zoom. The Alliance for Justice is a leader in advocating for a fair and independent justice system, preserving access to the courts, and empowering people to advocate on behalf of the issues they believe in.
501(c)3 nonprofit organizations play an important role in educating the public about policy issues and actions taken by elected officials. Elected officials vote on bills, make public statements and executive decisions, and set the course for public policy on a wide range of issues. These actions may be consistent with or conflict with a nonprofit's position on an issue. After this workshop you will have a clear understanding of how to maximize your advocacy, the kinds of advocacy activities 501(c)3s can engage in, and when a communication is considered lobbying.
This session is a unique opportunity to learn from experts in the field. The Nonprofit Network is covering the cost of the training so you can attend for free.
Please take advantage of this learning opportunity and register here.

News for Nonprofits
Attention Nonprofits with Fewer Than 20 Employees
On February 22, President Biden announced that from February 24 through March 9 Small Business Administration and Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) lenders will process loan applications from nonprofits and for-profit businesses with fewer than 20 employees. This round is designed to provide more equitable relief to the smallest businesses and those left behind in previous relief efforts and to help them navigate the application process. If you think your nonprofit is eligible for an initial PPP loan or a second draw loan authorized by Congress in late 2020, contact a lender to find out how much relief may be available. Any Iowa business or nonprofit organization can complete the survey at this link. Find the UNI partners list and additional information here.
