Who wants to get their families exploring and learning new sports and active recreation ideas all while having fun?! We are thankful for a grant from Communities Choosewell to put together 8 new borrowable winter fun and sport exploration kits for families to get moving with.
Sign up to borrow a Sport Exploration or Fun Kit. All the kit booklets are available to view and download from our website, so you can start playing even before your turn to borrow a kit comes around!

In partnership with Lethbridge Plays, Winter Fun Kits include all the supplies and instructions you need to have fun being active this winter, indoors and outdoors. There are 3 Winter Fun Kits (all the same)

These kits include the equipment & instructions to introduce you to baseball, softball, lacrosse, rugby, badminton & ultimate (frisbee) (Kit 1) and soccer, basketball, tennis, & football (Kit 2).

This kit is an Olympic themed experience! Choose from 25 different Olympic sports and use the supplied equipment and instructions to get moving and have fun!

Our Multicultural Sport kits include the equipment and instructions to try out and play a variety of activities with roots from all over the world!

COVID Restrictions Easing Under Step 2

As part of the "Path Forward", the government of Alberta has proceeded to Step 2 of the reopening plan. Updated health measures are now in place for retail, hotels and community halls, performance groups, and youth sports, performance and recreation.

Council proclaims April 7 Green Shirt Day
|
Lethbridge City Council on Tuesday voted unanimously to declare April 7 as Green Shirt Day, recognizing the impact Logan Boulet's legacy has had in inspiring Canadians to talk to their families and register as organ donors.
Council voted to provide an exception to issue and declare proclamations and request the Mayor's Office proclaim April 7th, 2021, as Green Shirt Day.

We've compiled a list of universities and colleges in Alberta with degrees directed towards sport and recreation.

On January 14, 2021 the Lethbridge Sport Council distributed a survey to local sport organizations regarding how they continue to work with their athletes, volunteer board members, and staff through the pandemic.
We had 17 respondents representing over 27,500 participants.

Canadian Paralympic Committee Launches 2021-22 Sport Development Fund
|
Sport organizations and clubs across Canada are encouraged to apply for the 2021-22 Paralympic Sport Development Fund, as the Canadian Paralympic Committee officially opened the grant application process. A limited number of grants will be given for a maximum of $10,000.

Canada Healthy Communities Initiative
|
The Healthy Communities Initiative supports communities as they create and adapt public spaces, and programming and services for public spaces to respond to ongoing needs arising from COVID-19 over the next two years. This $31 million investment from the Government of Canada will fund small-scale infrastructure projects to create safer, more vibrant and inclusive communities. Community Foundations of Canada (CFC) and its network are working alongside the Canadian Urban Institute (CUI) and other partners to deliver the Healthy Communities Initiative locally

The 2019 Canada Winter Games Legacy Fund Society is pleased to share the details of the final 2019 Games legacy—a legacy fund of $650,000 designed to support not-for-profit sport and community organizations in the province of Alberta. Nominations are now OPEN! During National Volunteer Week 2021, Volunteer Lethbridge is recognizing and celebrating volunteers in the Lethbridge community with the Volunteers of YQL Awards on Thursday, April 22nd, 2021 at 6:00 pm.
