Hurricane Highlights

March 2022

#HurricanePride

Each day at WCS we find moments to celebrate and students to cheer. Troy Diels, WCS Athletic Director, recently witnessed 4 of our WHS students on camera cleaning up a mess that was left by others. They were not asked to do it and we wouldn’t have even known it was them had there not been surveillance footage in the Auditeria.

What an outstanding example of both leadership and service shown by these 4 students.

Holmes Kindness Campaign

Holmes Elementary celebrated a day of kindness on Tuesday! Students created special cards or decorations for their secret Valentine class. After their hard work was done they secretly left them for their secret Valentine class to find! The kids had a great time both giving and receiving surprise acts of kindness.

The kindness continued the week of Feb 21st with Kindness Week Activities for each day of the week. #CaneConnectedCommunity

Thank you to our School Counselors!

Feb 7th-11th was National School Counseling Week and it gave us the opportunity to focus on their unique contribution within the school system. They help our students reach their full potential, whether it’s academics or their emotional well-being. Our school counselors play a vital role in preparing our students for a future full of promise. Our school counselors are:

  • Brook McCoy (Denver/East End)
  • Taylor Rains (Holmes)
  • Morgan Combs (WMS)
  • Carly Miller (WMS)
  • Mary Groves (WHS)
  • Tammy Martin (WHS)
  • Tyler Williams (WHS)

Many thanks to this hard working group of counselors!
