NECC News: COVID Update
Dear NECC Members & Community,

Starting tomorrow, Saturday, March 12, Oregon will no longer require masks indoors. While we are adjusting mask requirements in our facility, a properly fitting mask will still be required to enter our building. We are making these adjustments to recognize that while COVID infection rates are decreasing, not everyone is comfortable being in public indoor spaces with unmasked groups.
While we will be designating some spaces and activities as mask optional, we still strongly encourage you to consider wearing a mask while at the NECC.

The following requirements are effective starting Monday, March 14.

FACILITY REQUIREMENTS

Main Floor: Properly fitting masks must be worn while entering the facility, in the lobby, in the Universal locker room on the main floor, in the Fitness Room, in the pool area, and other areas on the Main Floor with limited exceptions outlined below.

Second Floor & Basement: Masks are optional. This includes the Cardio Room, the Multipurpose Rooms, and the Men’s and Women’s Locker Room. Participants returning from these areas to the main floor must wear a mask.

ADJUSTMENTS TO CLASSES AND PROGRAMS

Adult Fitness Classes: Masks are still required, for now, though we will slowly be transitioning some classes to mask optional. As soon as it becomes available, information about mask-optional classes will be posted on the NECC website, on the NECC MindBody App, and on the printed Fitness schedule.

After School Time, Youth Sports, and Youth Enrichment Classes: Masks are required when entering the facility, in the lobby, and in other public areas of the main floor; masks are optional in the gym and the MPR. NECC staff will communicate directly with participants & parents about any alternative requirements. Unfortunately, at this time, we have not yet opened the lobby or the track for viewing.

Drop-In Pickleball & Basketball: Masks are required when entering the facility, in the lobby, and in other public areas of the main floor; masks are optional in the gym. Please note that if you must enter the lobby for any reason (even just to get a drink), you must wear a mask.

Swim Lessons: This session, we are making no changes to how our swim program operates. Instructors will continue to wear masks as they teach from the pool deck, and only persons entering the water may remain in the facility during lessons.

We realize that these adjustments can be a little confusing. We have created a cheat sheet so you know where you do and do not have to wear a mask. When in doubt, just ask our staff or err on the side of caution.

During the past 24 months, we appreciate the care you have shown for each other. If you test positive, are experiencing symptoms, or have been exposed to someone who has COVID, please do not come to the facility. We continue to follow these guidelines and to monitor rates of COVID transmission. As we deem the situation warrants, we will adjust our policies in a way that maintains trust with participants and supports the health and safety of our community.
REMINDER: Spring Break Week Schedule Changes

We will be making some facility adjustments the week of March 21-25 to accommodate our Spring Break Camp. Drop-in Basketball will be moved to 4:30-6:30pm on Tuesday and Thursday of that week and the modified group fitness schedule can be found here on our website.
