NECC News: March 2022
Upcoming Events
Group Fitness

March is a bit of a tricky month for group fitness here at the NECC! The first week of March will continue on the same schedule as February, and then our March/April Schedule will begin when Kristen returns on March 7th.

Karlyn’s Wednesday Cardio Dance class is currently on hiatus while she recovers from an injury and Jason’s class will also be put on hold for now. You can find recordings of Karlyn’s class in our On Demand library and Jason will be adding his own soon.
Spring Break Week Schedule Changes

We will be making some facility adjustments the week of March 21-25 to accommodate our Spring Break Camp. Drop-in Basketball will be moved to 4:30-6:30pm on Tuesday and Thursday of that week and the modified group fitness schedule can be found here on our website.
Registration is Open for Spring Youth Programs
We still have space available in Art, Dance, Volleyball classes as well as the Basketball Skills class for 5 and 6-year-olds. Click here to sign up.

Our 2022 Summer Camp Schedule is here!
Visit our website to learn about Mythbusters Camp, LARP Camp, Recycled Art Camp, and many more exciting camps we have planned for summer. Registration will open at 12pm on March 8th for NECC members and at 12pm on March 10th for everyone.
Looking for a screen free environment for your kids after school? We have room in our After School Time program on Mondays and Fridays from 2:30-6pm. Click here to apply.
No Afternoon Water Workout on March 3

There will not be a 1:10pm Water Workout class on Thursday, March 3rd. This is to allow NECC aquatics staff to attend an important training lead by the Black Swim Initiative (BSI). As part of this training, NECC staff will learn about the history of racism in aquatics. You can learn more about this topic from the video here or by reading the book Contested Waters.
Welcome New Swim Instructor
Paul Garboczi

Paul has had an extensive career in aquatics coaching swim team, teaching swim lessons, and serving as the aquatics director for the British Swim School. This past summer, Paul was the swim team coach at the Irvington Club and he is currently the coach for the Blue Crush Aquatic Club.

Paul is passionate about water safety and says his goal for students is to "learn enough about swimming so that they can have fun around water the rest of their lives." Welcome, Paul!
Update on NECC's Covid Policies
We have been pleased to watch the rates of COVID infections steadily decline and we are aware that the state indoor mask mandate will expire on March 19th. Please know that the NECC will make an independent determination about our facility requirements, even after the mandate is lifted, and we will consider the health and safety of our participants and staff in setting out new guidelines. We will keep you posted, and the most up-to-date information will always be on our website!
