“The paradox is that no-self is the fundamental reality of what we are.” ~ Adyashanti, Experiencing No-Self

March 2022 News & Offerings
It will soon be springtime here in the US, a season associated with new beginnings, when life awakens from its winter slumber and emerges anew. At Open Gate Sangha, the month of March is particularly emblematic of spring as it marks the anniversary of Adyashanti’s impactful awakenings to no-self, occurring on Saint Patrick’s Day in the early ’90s.
As a special treat for this month’s newsletter recipients, we tracked down a retreat talk from 2010 in which Adya recounts in detail how these awakenings unfolded. An excerpt from his story is included below as an audio recording, along with a recent retreat talk by Mukti, who relays the significance of Saint Patrick’s day in her own way.
And speaking of new life emerging, along with an upcoming spring online retreat in April, we recently launched two new options for streaming Adya’s full-length teachings! See below for details about The Stream (audio streaming) and Adyashanti YouTube Membership (video streaming). In addition to gaining access to a broad selection of historical online broadcasts and in-person meetings, your participation in one or both of these membership programs will support Open Gate Sangha in our mission to make Adya’s teachings available to “all those who sincerely yearn for peace and freedom.”

Furthering the theme of “Awakening to No-Self,” Adyashanti tells the profound and illuminating story of two consecutive awakenings that he experienced in his early thirties.
“. . . when I was around 32 or 33 years old, another moment of clarity occurred. And the nice thing about this moment of clarity, the beauty of it, was that it had no experiential byproduct at the moment it happened . . . it was just a pure seeing. No emotion, no high, no low, no left, no right, just a seeing.”
In this retreat talk on St. Patrick’s Day in 2019, Mukti reflects on spiritual yearning and the process of returning home to our own true nature.
“. . . sometimes the yearning can give us a reprieve. It revisits quietly as though it’s just tapping on the shoulder or coaxing us to turn and look within.”
