UPCOMING EVENTS

  • 23 April 2022, 10 am - Noon Spring General Membership Meeting/Elections. We will be electing members to the Executive Board and other positions needing to be filled. Come meet other CPC members and then meet your cadet for lunch!

  • 24 April 2022, 5-7 pm - Senior gift distribution at Arnold Hall. Seniors will be given their gifts on Sunday, April 24 at Arnold Hall.

  • 1 May 2022 - Spring Finals Goodie Bag Assembly and Delivery at the Cadet field house. A Sign-up to volunteer will be coming out soon. REMINDER: As a CPC member, your cadet will automatically receive a Spring Finals Goodie bag as a membership benefit.

  • 25 May 2022 - Graduation. Each cadet will get 20 tickets for Graduation. Click to see the updated Schedule of Events.

  • 11 June 2022, 2-6 pm - New Appointee Event at Top golf in Colorado Springs. We will welcome the Appointees for the Class of 2026 and their families. More details will be forthcoming.

  • 23 June 2022 - In-processing Day for the Class of 2026. We will be partnering with the AOG for the annual FamFest celebration at Doolittle Hall. We will need a lot of help to pull this off - there will be many opportunities to Volunteer.
Volunteer Opportunities

As you know, our parents' club is as successful as it is because of our amazing families! As the USAFA host state, senior leadership looks to us as the benchmark for all of the other clubs--this is a testament to the caliber of volunteers we have holding key positions.

Paul and I have been active volunteers since our son's Doolie year. We can attest from personal experience that our involvement has made this USAFA journey all the more rewarding for us. We've had a front row seat to our cadet's academy experience and have been able to personally witness many of the milestones along the way. It's been great to pay it forward to other USAFA families. We've made great friends and have enjoyed the opportunity to work closely with USAFA senior leadership.

We'd love to invite you to become more involved in the Colorado Parents' Club. Many of our volunteer opportunities and leadership roles can be served from all around the state. Please look over the volunteer opportunities below and let us know where you want to contribute.

Vice President(s) - The Vice President(s) oversee CPC Public Relations, including the Webmaster, Tailgate Chair, and Photographer/ Videographer. You can reach out to our current Vice Presidents (vp@
usafacpc.org) for more information.

Event Coordinator(s) - The Event Coordinator oversees volunteers and ensures that each of our CPC events has a Committee Chair. This position provides guidance for booking facilities, speakers, and planning menus. Overall, the Event Coordinator helps to make sure that each event runs smoothly.

Fundraising Chair - In this capacity you'll be responsible for overseeing the Goodie Bag Chair(s) and any other club fundraising efforts. In addition, you'll be reaching out to our community partners to seek funds for some of our activities (Tailgates, Colorado Night, etc.) and track donations received throughout the year.

Colorado Parents' Club POC for "Taste of Home" - a new, annual, parent-led morale event to begin in March 2023. This event provides cadets the opportunity to experience activities, entertainment, and food from six geographic regions of the United States.
I-Day Co-Chair(s). We are pleased to be hosting our traditional picnic once again this year. We are looking for a Co-Chair or two to learn what is involved so they can lead the event next year. The I-Day committee works closely with the AOG and USAFA senior leadership on this joint effort. CPC volunteers cover everything from food prep and serving, volunteer coordinating, to the letter writing campaign, etc.

Goodie Bag Committee and a 2023-2024 Goodie Bag Chair - The Goodie Bag Committee assists the Goodie Bag Chairs with all they do to organize this amazing event. Goodie Bags are our club's only fundraiser, and it is how we are able to fund the annual I-Day picnic and events such as Tailgates and cadet awards.

Hello CPC families!

As I sit here with yet more snow falling down, it doesn't feel very much like spring. But, the calendar says it is! I am thankful that the cadets were able to enjoy Spring Break this year, which means my cadet is home and available to shovel all this snow!

Congratulations to all of the newly recognized Class of 2025 cadets! I hear the class of 2025 did themselves proud at Recognition. Check out some of the Recognition photos below.

We were able to offer Colorado Night this year to all Colorado cadets and a guest on March 15 at Air City 360. The Colorado cadets had the full facility to themselves for jumping, the zip line coaster, and lots of other activities. They enjoyed homemade burritos, thanks to some wonderful CPC volunteers. We look forward to seeing you at the Spring General Membership meeting on Saturday, 23 April from 10 am - noon. Please RSVP below. This is a great opportunity to meet other CPC families. We will be approving the budget and electing the new CPC Board and Committee chairs for the 2022-2023 year, which begins at the hat toss on Graduation day.

Graduation will be here before we know it, and we are proud of all of the 2022 cadets who will be graduating soon. The graduating CPC Seniors will be receiving a special gift commemorating this occasion.

Recognition
Recognition is the formal three-day finale of the fourth-class (freshman) year when cadets are “recognized” as upper-class cadets and allowed to wear the Prop and Wings insignia on their flight caps. It is a ceremonial acknowledgment that the fourth-class has successfully met military training requirements. It includes “The Run to the Rock” with the Senior (Firstie) class. In addition to challenging the fourth-class cadets, Recognition provides the three upper classes with an opportunity to develop their leadership skills. Individual squadron ceremonies and a wing-wide celebratory evening meal mark the end of Recognition.

Meet the Board
Each month we are highlighting an Executive Board or Committee Chair member/s so you can get to know our behind the scenes team that is committed to lending their time and talents to supporting the Colorado Parents’ Club and our Colorado Cadets.

This month we are introducing our Co-Vice Presidents (and soon to be Co-Presidents), Danny and Kathy Cometto
Danny and Kathy, from Morrison, Colorado, are the proud parents of C4C Ben Cometto and younger sister Alexandra, a freshman in high school.  At USAFA, Ben is majoring in Astronautical Engineering and Mathematics.  Kathy is a Certified Public Accountant and owns a tax practice.  Danny and Kathy also own several other businesses, including custom software development, business consulting, software product, and mobile application companies.  They have been members of CPC since Ben arrived at the academy last summer, where they are serving as Co-Vice Presidents for the 2021-2022 academic year.  As a family they enjoy traveling the country in their camper, attending theatre performances, and serving their communities in a variety of ways.
