Greetings -
The Beatles concert our branch is presenting on May 7th was originally envisioned as a fundraiser for our organization. However, in the face of the latest destruction and violence inflicted on Ukrainians by Russian invaders, we as a branch board have decided to change our objective. The Beatles concert will now be a benefit concert, with 100% of the proceeds going to “Voices of Children”, a Ukraine-based charity that works with children suffering from the traumas of war.
You will find a link to a flyer for the Beatles concert included in this newsletter. Please print this page and put it up in your studio. Share the date and spread the word. Let’s do our small part to make a difference for Ukrainian children in need.

The February MSSL event was hosted on February 19th at Sunrise Senior Living in Pleasanton. There were 8 performers: 5 pianists, 1 vocalist, 1 violist, and 1 cellist. Our general secretary Laura Lai made the program, and our other general secretary Grace Lee made the certificates. All of the officers (both presidents, the vice president, and publicity manager) printed out some programs as our general secretaries were not able to make it this time.
We plan to have our next recital after 3/15 as that is the deadline for CM. Our other president, Charissa Luk, is working on finding a venue and setting up the details.

Testing dates for our branch (North Region 2). These are the 10 days where the students will take the theory, ear training, and sight reading exam. Also the period for uploading repertoire and technique recordings and the scanned music of the pieces. Remember to include the front cover of the book.
Branch Honors and Senior Recital

You can still do practice theory and SR practice tests on line.
You can upload now, so tell your students, if they are ready to do so.
Remember to copy the cover of the book along with the music.
I am now only responsible for Branch Honors. I am no longer chair, because the position no longer exists.
Branch Board will discuss exactly what and how Branch Honors will be chosen. One rule,
however, you must play to get a ribbon. Recitals will be in person.
If you have any information to share regarding CM please let me know! I now know as much as you do.
Your student’s status will continue to be incomplete until they upload the sight reading exam. Remember to click on the media is complete box.
2023 Syllabus for piano is coming! Hopefully there won’t be too many changes as we prepare our students for the 2023 exam!
