LGBTQ+ Affinity Group - Virtual

5:30 - 6:30 pm

Topic: Perspectives on Engaging LGBTQ+ Donors through Giving Circles

NOTE: This meeting is open to anyone who would like to learn more about this topic.

Do you have questions about what a giving circle is? Are you wondering if a giving circle will support you with engaging with LGBTQ+ or other groups of donors? Join the AFP Chicago LGBTQ+ Affinity Group as we learn about giving circles and the ways LGBTQ+ donors show up in these spaces. Our speakers will join us to discuss the LGBTQ+ giving circles at The Chicago Community Trust and the Chicago Foundation for Women.

Open to Members and nonmembers.

ANNOUNCING AFP Chicago's Neurodiverse Affinity Group
Thursday, March 23, 2023
4:00 - 5:00 pm

Join us for the very first meeting of AFP Chicago's newest affinity group: the Neurodiverse Affinity Group, on Thursday, March 23 at 4:00 PM. This group was created to hold a welcoming, non-disabling, and community-oriented space for neurodiverse fundraisers, and is the first group of its type across all AFP chapters.
We want to hear from you about what attendees would like from a group like this, so please do come with questions and stories from your own experience to share (if you would like! This will be a sensory-sensible and "spoon-conscious" meeting -- there's no obligation to turn your camera on or speak at any point).
Thank you to our Neurodiverse Affinity Group Sponsor:

Peer Mentoring
New Learning Opportunity, More Connections for Peer Mentoring Participants
By Yashica Weeks, MS, CFRE
Director of Gift Planning, DuPage Foundation

Remember those days in college when the professor introduced a new concept, but you were uncomfortable or too shy to ask questions during class…in front of everyone? Instead, you visited the professor during their “office hours” so that you could ask your questions in an informal environment.
Or perhaps you don’t feel comfortable asking for more guidance on a particular work project, or you’ve been designing a strategy but would love some feedback before you continue on a particular path. Who hasn’t wanted to “Phone a Friend” in a pinch – like on Who Wants to be a Millionaire?

AFP Chicago’s Peer Mentoring Committee recently hosted our first Office Hours – a designated time for our current protégés to have invaluable access to skilled development professionals through an exciting new addition to our program.
