Mascot of the Month - Meet Eddie
This month we are deviating from our normal pet of the month feature and presenting this stunning Egret who visits our property every couple of weeks. We've named him Eddie.
Here in the Florida Keys, there are three types of Egrets that visit, The Common, Snowy, and Cattle Egret. This is a Common Egret that is identifiable by its white plumage, yellow bill, and black legs and feet. It's a very curious bird.
We are unsure if this is a male or a female and it is very difficult to determine, especially if only one is present. It is our understanding from Egret 101, that the male is only slightly larger than the female and there is no easy way to tell if you are looking at a male or a female except for a small difference in size.
In honor of Eddie, we will be donating to the Key West Wildlife Center, a 7-acre facility that provides treatment to injured wildlife.
