Miller’s Services is a family-owned business based in Gloucester, Virginia that offers full septic, plumbing, drain cleaning, heating and cooling, and electrical services. Recognizable by their notable red trucks and yard signs, the presence of Miller’s Services across the Middle Peninsula is unmistakable. The business has expanded exponentially since James “Lee” Miller and wife Mary “Udell” M. Mason founded Miller’s Septic Tank Service in 1973. What first began as a one-man septic system pumping and disposal business has now grown into a whole home service company of over 90 skilled and trained professionals.
James Lee Miller, Jr. (“Jim”) is the son of the original founders. Jim, his wife Sallie Miller and their son James Lee Miller, III (“Jamie”) purchased and incorporated the family business in late 2001. Jamie’s sister, Ashley Miller, joined as General Manager in 2007.
Eventually in 2022, company ownership transitioned to Jamie Miller (CEO) and Ashley
Miller (CFO). The Miller family is proud of the legacy they’ve forged and the
reputation of their family name throughout the communities they serve.
By way of acquisitions, dedication to employee professional development, and the addition of their Registered Apprenticeship Program offering classes in partnership with New Horizons and on-the-job paid learning in various trades, the company has benefited from adding valuable services to its lineup over the years. Due to the additions of
plumbing, drain cleaning, heating and cooling, and electrical trades, the name Miller’s Septic Services became limiting. To address this, the business name was changed to Miller’s Services in 2015.
