March 2023 News & Views. Saturn moves;
Indian Astrology Classes begin this month

Hi all
Welcome to those who are subscribers as well as those who are reading my newsletter for the first time. If you missed the February 2023 News and Views you can read that here conta.cc/3YTJLGH. As I said previously we are in a unique period where there will not be any retrogrades between January 22, when Uranus stationed direct, until April 21, when Mercury stations retrograde, but that does not mean that the world will not have any problems as seen by the awful train crash in Greece, the train derailments in East Palestine Ohio, the one year anniversary of the war in Ukraine, still going strong, and the earthquake that occurred on February 6 on the border of Turkey and Syria. We might however view this period as one in which we can move forward and heal ourselves by finishing up projects, resolving arguments and differences, and beginning something entirely new whether a job, move, or relationship. Or you can just make changes in your current job, home, or relationship. On the other hand things are moving quickly and Mars will be moving out of its Retrograde Arc (shadow). This is repeated for the most part from the February News and Views but since this will occur on March 15 I repeated it below. Scroll down for information about Mars finally leaving its retrograde arc (shadow).
I am excited to offer two series of Jyotisa classes that begin this month: Beginning and Advanced Jyotisa (Indian astrology). Advanced classes will now begin once a month on March 22nd. Please scroll below for the new schedule. Beginning classes begin March 15th and you can scroll down for more information. Registration at www.ronniedreyer.com/schedule. Please contact me if you have any questions.
If you scroll down to Celestial Events, you can see that there is a lot of movement this month with the planets entering new signs, especially Mars, which has been lingering in one part of the zodiac for many months, whether you use Tropical astrology or Sidereal (Indian) astrology. Scroll below to read about Saturn changing signs in both zodiacs. So whether you use the tropical or sidereal zodiac, you will still experience Saturn moving into a new sign and a new house if you use whole sign houses.
Please also scroll down for information about purchasing the 2023 Sensitive Degrees Webinar, which I presented as a 7-hour presentation in two parts on December 11 and December 18 and the webinar on Saros and Metonic Cycles which I presented in February and included this year's eclipses. Scroll down for more information. You can purchase the webinars by going to www.ronniedreyer.com/schedule.
As always you can book a consultation by making payment on my website under Services, and I will then reach out to you to make an appointment. I will be raising my rates on March 20, the Vernal Equinox, so it is a good idea to purchase a reading, even if you wish to wait a month or two to actually book the date.
This month's lunations occur with the Full Moon on March 7, 2023, 12:40 GMT. Tropical. 16° Virgo 40’. Sidereal. 22° Leo 35’. pūrvaphalgunī, and with the New Moon on March 21, 2023, 17:22 GMT. Tropical. 0° Aries 49’. Sidereal. 6° Pisces 44'. uttarabhadrapadā. If you have any planets, points, or angles around those degrees (I would take a one degree orb) then whatever is represented by that planet, point or angle, will be prominent and important until the next lunation, meaning that if something is conjunct this month's Full Moon, it will be prominent until the next Full Moon on April 6, 2023, and if something is conjunct this month's New Moon, it will be prominent until the next New Moon on April 20, 2023, which is also a solar eclipse. The New Moon represents beginnings and can help you to institute a change you have been thinking about while the Full Moon is an accomplishment or culmination and gives the push to continue on that path. If your birthday is between March 6-8, then the Full Moon is in your solar return (varṣaphala) or close enough that it will be important for the year ahead until your next birthday, meaning that it may be year when things you have been working on will manifest, or feel like they are moving in the right direction, so continue with whatever is fulfilling you. If your birthday is between March 20-22, then the New Moon is in your solar return (varṣaphala) or close enough that it will be important for the year ahead until your next birthday, meaning a change is bound to happen, so work on that change. It could be a physical move, job change, relationship change, or simply working on yourself to integrate new patterns and habits into your life. Expect a great deal of transformative experiences that will make you want to change or take a step in a different direction. Take your time but do head in that direction, since otherwise it will happen to you whether you initiate it or not. (Scroll below for more Celestial Events.)

Saturn Changes Signs
Tropical Zodiac. Saturn enters Pisces. March 7, 2023. Saturn enters Aries. May 24, 2025. Saturn retrograde re-enters Pisces. September 1, 2025. Saturn direct re-enters Aries February 13, 2026.
Sidereal Zodiac (If you use Indian astrology). Saturn entered Aquarius. April 27, 2022. Saturn retrograde re-entered Capricorn. July 14, 2022. Saturn direct re-entered Aquarius. January 16, 2023. Saturn enters Pisces March 28, 2025.
(This is an introduction to Saturn changing signs. More will be addressed about Saturn and Jupiter changing signs in future newsletters.)
As you see above Saturn has now changed signs definitively so that if you use the tropical zodiac you just need to see where Pisces is located in your chart and especially if you have the Sun, Moon, Ascendant or Midheaven there. If you use the sidereal zodiac you just need to see where Aquarius is located in your chart and especially if you have the Sun, Moon, Ascendant or Midheaven there. Of course if you have Mercury, Venus, or Mars as well in tropical Pisces or Sidereal Aquarius, this will make a difference. The house where these signs are located will come into focus this year. Do NOT think that Saturn will ruin that area over the next few years, since Saturn can also bring success, material, discipline, and form to ideas that have been germinating. Of course things will still be done in a Saturnine way, which means you will not get anything without putting in effort, unless you have a more than average Jupiter in your natal chart, or transiting Jupiter, which will also change signs on April 21, 2023 (into sidereal Aries) and on May 16, 2023 (into tropical Taurus) aspects something important in your natal chart. Saturn will show you where that effort should be applied and where you will see that achievement actualized. You can also look at this as a beginning since as you see above, it has left tropical Aquarius and sidereal Capricorn, and the area of life where those signs are located can be set aside, and hopefully Saturn has allowed you to achieve those goals. If you scroll down, some of the areas of the chart that are affected will be explained, but for now do not expect the world to fall apart, or that Saturn will destroy everything you have worked for. Truthfully, Saturn can slow things down, and it can cause delays and even bring an end to whatever area Saturn influences in the chart. But as we have all learned, Saturn is a taskmaster, in that it will create a schedule for the effort you must exert, it will downside and consolidate, and will show you how to do things in a different way since the area of the chart it traverses, may not yet be acclimated to the new influence, and that will occur slowly over time.
If you are of course older than 29-30, you can think back to the last time that Saturn was in this area of the chart, and you may even be able to see some similarities. However every time any planet returns to a position it held once before, the rest of the sky is different, so that no planetary transit will be the same as the other. While I am not going to predict any world events in this newsletter, you can also look back on the previous years and google or think back as to what was going on in the world and in your own chart. These dates when Saturn was in tropical Pisces and sidereal Aquarius are as follows.
Tropical Zodiac.
Saturn entered Pisces. March 23, 1964. Saturn retrograde re-entered Aquarius. September 16, 1964. Saturn direct re-entered Pisces. December 16, 1964. Saturn entered Aries. March 3, 1967.
Saturn entered Pisces. May 21, 1993. Saturn retrograde re-entered Aquarius. June 30, 1993. Saturn direct re-entered Pisces. January 28, 1994. Saturn entered Aries. April 7, 1996.
Sidereal Zodiac.
Saturn entered Aquarius. January 26, 1964. Saturn entered Pisces. April 7, 1966. Saturn retrograde re-entered Aquarius. November 5 1966. Saturn direct re-entered Pisces. December 17, 1966.
Saturn entered Aquarius. March 4, 1993. Saturn retrograde re-entered Capricorn. October 20, 1993. Saturn direct re-entered Aquarius. November 4, 1993. Saturn entered Pisces. May 31, 1995. Saturn retrograde re-entered Aquarius. August 11, 1995. Saturn direct re-entered Pisces. February 15, 1996.
Read if you use sidereal Indian astrology. During this period when Saturn transits sidereal Aquarius, the house that sidereal Aquarius occupies is the area where you may feel you have obstacles, or problems, but have great determination and discipline to make this area stronger and beneficial through effort and hard work. As long as you pay attention, and do not give up, even if you have to backtrack, or rethink your original plan. Stay focused, stick to the plan that you set for yourself, and always have a Plan B prepared if things do not work out as planned. You do not want to improvise or lose that sense of security or certainty in the area of the chart that Saturn transits. If you do not know which house sidereal Aquarius occupies, look at your ascendant, or Moon, or even your Sun, and just count from there. General descriptions for bhavas (houses) are as follows:
1. appearance, destiny, temperament, personality, constitution; 2. Money, family life, food, speech, early childhood; 3. Siblings, Fine arts, courage, desires; 4. Mars Direct and Leaving the Retrograde Arc (Shadow) (taken from the February News and Views)
I have been talking a lot about Mars retrograde since last August when it first entered sidereal Taurus, and now that it is about to leave the retrograde arc, I wanted to track its final exit. Although this is occurring in March I thought it was important to write about it now, since Mars finally went direct on January 12, which means it has gained speed and is moving fiercely as it recaps places it has already been for the third and final time before it finally leaves sidereal Taurus and Gemini and tropical Gemini. On average, Mars travels through a sign in approximately 45-47 days. During its retrograde cycle Mars can stay in one sign for 6-7 months, or straddle two signs for 8-9 months. Remember to read tropical if you do Western astrology and use sidereal (Indian) if you use Indian astrology or Western sidereal astrology.
According to the tropical zodiac
Mars enters Gemini. August 20, 2022.
Mars enters Cancer. March 25, 2023.
Mars therefore travels through tropical Gemini for seven months.
According to the sidereal (Indian) zodiac
Mars enters Taurus. Aug 10 2022;
Mars enters Gemini. Oct 15 2022;
Mars R re-enters Taurus. Nov 14 2022;
Mars D re-enters Gemini. March 12, 2023;
Mars enters Cancer. May 10, 2023.
Mars therefore travels through sidereal Taurus and Gemini for nine months.
If you have planets, points, or angles between Tropical 8° Gemini 07’ - 25° Gemini 36’, or between Sidereal 14° Taurus 03’ - 1° Gemini 32’, Mars will conjoin that three times between September 3, 2022, when it first entered the retrograde arc or shadow, and March 16 when it leaves. First it will be direct, then retrograde, and now it is direct so between January 12th when it stationed direct at Tropical 8° Gemini 07’/Sidereal 14° Taurus 03’ and March 16th when it leaves the retrograde arc (where it first stationed retrograde) at Tropical 25° Gemini 36’/Sidereal 1° Gemini 32’ Mars will make its final presence known. Mars is still hovering around tropical Gemini until March 25th and sidereal Taurus until March 12th so the houses those signs occupy may still be going through reorganization, rebuilding, and moving quickly forward in order to finish what you have been working on over the last few months. But this time instead of falling into a Mars retrograde pattern of hesitancy, anger, and complete restructuring, what you have learned over the past few months can be applied to the area of life where you find tropical Gemini or sidereal Taurus.
The best thing to do now is to take your time, since you may feel as if you have to get things done in a hurry because the last few months may have delayed things or not allowed you to move forward in the area of life that encompasses tropical Gemini or sidereal Taurus. Move positively to complete something you may have started but became distracted or detoured through no fault of your own. Meditate, take deep breaths, and do not feel that you must make up for lost time, since moving too quickly could get you into trouble. Take your time, smell the roses, and enjoy the movement forward of a powerful planet that provides energy, initiative, and physical action when working positively.
Read if you use sidereal Indian astrology. The house that sidereal Taurus occupies is the area where you may feel invigorated and strengthened, but is also the area where you need to pace yourself but continue to move forward. If you do not know which house sidereal Taurus occupies, look at your ascendant, or Moon, or even your Sun, and just count from there. General descriptions for bhavas (houses) are as follows:
1. appearance, destiny, temperament, personality, constitution; 2. Money, family life, food, speech, early childhood; 3. Siblings, Fine arts, courage, desires; 4. Mother, happiness, real estate, vehicles; 5. Children, romance, investments, speculation; 6. Open enemies, work, competition, obstacles, illness; 7. Marriage, partners, contracts, passion; 8. Life and death cycle, research, accidents, other's money, inheritance; 9. Father, teacher (guru), religion, higher learning, opportunity; 10. Career, status, public recognition, reputation; 11. Profits, rewards, gains from work, awards, older siblings; 12. spiritual practice, secret enemies, foreign travel, debt, confinement.
