President's Message
We are about to complete our first year back to campus and in-person learning! It’s been great to see members and coordinators back in the classroom, as well as continuing Zoom and hybrid classes. Living through Covid was not easy, but we learned new ways to present classes and stay together in our pursuit of life long learning. And so it continues. Special Events are coming up in the spring, so be sure to check your email for blasts of upcoming events, including our first-ever Poetry Slam! Our spring social will close out the ALL year and coordinators are already entering their fall class writeups in the portal. Life is good.

It's also time for you to think about joining our Board of Directors. We have three people who will be leaving the board at the end of June. Terms are three years and involve a zoom meeting a month and occasionally another meeting. Nomination papers are on the desk in the office – please complete and return by March 31. Pass the paper around a class -ten signatures are easy to obtain that way. Please turn in your nomination form to Cynthia Jayne, our office administrator, or to the desk volunteer on duty. I know some of you have mentioned an interest in serving on the board. Now’s the time to make that happen!

Last month I attended the launch of our newest Reflections magazine. June Calender and her staff put together a wonderful edition of our members’ writings and visual art. Listening to the magazine’s contributors read their poems, essay, or stories, I was reminded what a special community of learners we are. Not only do we meet and share ideas in our courses, we also share our thoughts, feelings, and ideas in literary and creative ways. If you missed this special event, be sure to go next year and maybe you’ll be inspired to contribute next time. You can access Reflections through a link in our February newsletter if you didn’t order a hard copy.

So many have contributed to the success of ALL over the years. Recently, we lost another coordinator who presented many unique, interesting, and thought-provoking classes. Steve Pastore was a tireless contributor to our ALL curriculum. He was one of kind and he will be missed.

Fall 2023 Course Proposals Welcome
time_management.jpg
Your copy should address 3 key questions: Who am I writing for? (Audience) Why should they care? (Benefit) What do I want them to do here
? (Call-to-Action)
The Course Portal is open!
Create a great offer by adding words like "free" "personalized" "complimentary" or "customized." A sense of urgency often helps readers take an action, so think about inserting phrases like "for a limited time only" or "only 7 remaining!"
The Ides of March have arrived!

The Curriculum committee is looking forward to the arrival of your course proposals.

Veteran coordinators are invited to submit courses in the portal now.

If you're interested in offering an ALL course for the first time, the first step is to discuss your course ideas with a member of the Curriculum Committee.

Contact lifelonglearning@capecod.edu. (774-330-4400).

The earlier the better for you to receive the time slot you prefer for your class.

Stew Goodwin Video:

On Tuesday, February 21, 2023, Stew Goodwin presented his ALL Special Event on Zoom at 1:30 entitled “Putin and Xi: Past Their Peak?” Both men have made serious errors during the past year, and Stew explored whether these errors have eroded some of their power. Over 50 people attended Stew’s lecture, which was followed by a period of questions and answers.

Barnstable Comedy Club and Dolphin Restaurant Event A Success
On Sunday, March 12, our Special Event was at the Barnstable Comedy club in West Barnstable at 2:30 where we watched the play, “The Inspector Calls”. The play was followed by dinner at the Dolphin Restaurant, a short walk down the street from the Comedy Club. In attendance were 39 ALL members. The play was delightful and dinner was delicious. We had appetizers and salad; a choice of fish, chicken, or pasta dish; and either bread pudding or cheesecake for dessert. We enjoyed seeing former friends and meeting new members.?
