Call for Presentations, Canadian Rural Revitalization Foundation Conference 2023

The Prentice Institute is currently collecting submissions for the Canadian Rural Revitalization Foundation (CRRF) conference in June of 2023.

Abstracts for individual presentations, research posters, and panels should be no longer than 250 words in length and should include all the presenters’ names, affiliations, and e-mail addresses.

Complete the presentation submission form and email it back to prentice@uleth.ca before March 31st, 2023.

A Prentice Institute-City of Lethbridge public event to showcase the work of all of the Fall 2022 and Spring 2023 students is planned for Thursday April 20^th @ 12:00 p.m. The event will be held upstairs in the Penny Building (PB200) . It will be an opportunity to appreciate how the joint effort of City staff, students, and faculty members is supporting urban revitalization and public realm projects in Lethbridge. In fostering this partnership, the Prentice Institute contributes to tackling questions that are central to the planning of a prosperous, vibrant, inclusive and equitable City.

Get Connected, Become an Affiliate

The Prentice Institute accepts applications for affiliation year-round. Affiliates are eligible to apply for a variety of grant funds offered by the Institute.

Reminder to Affiliates

The deadline to apply for the Prentice Institute Research Affiliate Fund and the Prentice Institute Research Seed Grant is April 6, 2023. Only Prentice Institute affiliates with an academic appointment at the University of Lethbridge are eligible to apply. For more info please see Prentice Institute Grants.

Climate Change in the Yukon

WCS Canada have created a new website and data portal related to the effects of climate change in the Yukon. The site is intended to be used an an information hub and to provide information on how land-use planning can be used to reduce the impacts of climate change. Canadian Population Society Annual Meeting

The conference will be held from May 31, 2023 to June 2, 2023 and will feature two special sessions titled “What is applied demography and why does it matter?" and “Examining recent Canadian demographic trends: New developments from Statistics Canada’s Centre for Demography”. The Vienna Yearbook has a new open call! The special issue on Population and Climate Change will be guest edited by Roman Hoffman, Liliana Andriano, Marion Borderon, Kathryn Grace, Tobias Rüttenauer and Erich Striessnig.

There is currently a petition before the House of Commons to increase the number and value of Tri-Council Scholarships. These scholarships are tremendously important to graduate students and include SSHRC funding at both the masters and doctoral level (CGS-M and CGS-D). These scholarships have not increased monetarily in nearly two decades and with our current levels of inflation, are more important than ever.
