Sometimes there are significant costs involved when starting a new job. Whether it's buying appropriate work clothes or uniforms, special equipment or even putting gas in your car to get to work, this can be a hardship for those who might not have extra money to spend, especially when that first paycheck is a few weeks away. We have a client who is starting her own business as a cleaning person. She already has jobs lined up, but was worried about some of the start-up expenses such as cleaning supplies and a reliable vacuum cleaner. Thanks to a recent cleaning supply drive sponsored by the Lowe's store in Avon, we were able to give her some cleaning supplies to get her started! We also helped her purchase a new vacuum cleaner! This client now has everything she needs to start her new career with confidence!

The John T. Shook Community Service Award pays tribute to a very special friend and longtime CRS Board member who passed away in 2018. John touched the lives of many people in our community.
