Friendly Reminder: Daylight Saving Time begins Sunday, March 12, 2023 be sure to set your clocks forward by one hour at 2:00am.
This painting is based upon a photo taken in the Santa Monica Mountains, a favorite place of mine. While on the trail in February, I saw the first poppies of the year and decided to paint the scene. As I painted, I decided to add even more poppies! What is one of your favorite places?

Dear Friends,

Thirteen years ago, I began serving with you at Our Redeemer. I remember thinking back on that time when starting a new Call during Lent was maybe not such a good idea. But I also have very fond memories of that beginning and I continue to appreciate the season of Lent.
This year we are using resources from Sanctified Art with the theme:
Seeking: honest questions for deeper faith.
For the first full week of Lent the question is, “Who will you listen to?” I like this question and look forward to thinking about it, especially as I reflect on who I choose to listen to. Do I listen to those voices (and ideas) that are helpful? Or do I allow negativity undue sway? I think it is mixed but I also find it easy to get caught up in the news of the day. This year, to cut down on the negative I gave up watching political news for Lent. I will instead use the time to read, or paint, or chat with friends. What about you?
In other news, I am happy to announce that our congregation has adopted a new vision and mission statement. The underlying thinking behind these statements is that God has continued to give us much through the various small groups at Our Redeemer. Many of us are experiencing a new depth of community through our participation in activities such as quilting, book study, bible study, 2nd Saturday worship, and dinner. We believe that God is inviting us to expand upon what is already happening here. The new statements are:
As we live more deeply into these, I invite you to think about how God might be inviting you to participate; invite others; or even, what group God might be leading you to start. I would love to hear from you.

Blessings to you today, and every tomorrow.

Peace in Christ,
Pastor Nancy
Preschool & Kindergarten News
From the Preschool Director
Here comes March! With all this cold weather, it is hard to believe we are heading into spring. This month will once again be full of fun activities starting off with our annual pajama days in honor of Dr. Seuss’ birthday. The celebrations will include green eggs and ham, pancakes, popcorn, and of course lots of Dr. Seuss stories! (Do you remember your favorite?) We also have spring pictures and Parent Teacher conferences right around the corner and of course a yummy fundraiser with See’s Candy.

With spring also comes the blooming of flowers, plants and the awareness of everything being new again. As we enter into the Lenten season, the children will be reminded of Jesus’ unconditional love for them. May you and your family enjoy this time of renewal and have many blessings!

Happy Spring!
