Did you know...

Schools must apply each year to be considered for alternative school status even if they have been previously approved?

All schools serving grades 6-12 that would like to be considered for Alternative School status must complete and submit the Alternative School Application to the Arizona Department of Education.

The Alternative School Application window is now open and will close on March 31, 2023, so plan to complete and submit your application timely!

More information about Alternative Schools and requirements can be found on the Accountability Alternative Schools page. Be sure to pay close attention to the contractual requirements for charter holders applying for this status.

Quick Reminder!

Our online platform for ASBCS Online is getting an update!

Construction and implementation of the new information system began in August of 2022 and as we enter more of the final stages of development, we are happy to announce the expected completion and launch date of the new system will be in late April/early May of 2023. As we transition to the new system, at some point access to the legacy system will need to be turned off; therefore, please work with your EPM to submit any anticipated requests at this time.

In the coming months, comprehensive training and technical support will be offered to charter holders and representatives. Board staff will communicate the various training opportunities and dates as soon as possible.

Best Regards,

Ashley Berg

Executive Director

Academic Team Tip:

All amendment request submissions require governing body minutes or a corporate board resolution (if the charter holder has a fully separate corporate board) approving the request.

To avoid an administratively incomplete amendment or mark on the dashboard, ensure governing body minute recording practices are in compliance with Open Meeting Law! For your convenience, the Board's website has a handy-dandy Board Meeting Minutes Checklist.
