Spring is almost here which means along with warmer weather and sunshine, there are so many exciting pro bono opportunities and events coming up!

We're less than one month away from Arcade for Legal Aid on Wednesday, April 12th! We hope you will join our Young Professionals Board as we celebrate the fifth anniversary since it was established. This fun event is a great way to join the PILI community in supporting our work. We hope to see you there!

Be sure to check out our Trailblazers of Justice Spotlights for Women's History Month as PILI celebrates and honors the achievements of women who have had a significant impact on the Illinois legal community and beyond.

Over the last month, we hosted two Illinois Free Legal Answers clinics. PILI partnered with Taft Stettinius & Hollister as well as the DuPage County Bar Association and NIU College of Law to pair lawyers and law students together to answer questions on the site. Additionally, PILI's Eighteenth Judicial Circuit Pro Bono Committee partnered with Prairie State Legal Services and the DuPage County Bar Association to host a Wills & Powers of Attorney Clinic to help veterans, seniors and their spouses to draft wills and POAs. Thank you to our lawyers, law students and other pro bono volunteers for helping PILI build a community of service across Illinois.

Get Your Tickets Now for PILI's Arcade for Legal Aid! Join PILI's Young Professionals Board as it celebrates its fifth anniversary at this fun event that brings together the legal community to support PILI's work. We will gather together from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Hi-Point Game Lounge on April 12th. Tickets and sponsorship opportunities are available now. Read more »

Self-certification is now open for our 2023 Pro Bono Recognition Roster. The Pro Bono Recognition Roster honors law firms and corporations that have made significant commitments and contributions to pro bono throughout the state of Illinois and will be unveiled at the Annual Pro Bono Reception on June 21st. Join approximately 50 law firms and corporations that are recognized every year by filling out this certification form. The submission deadline is May 15th.

Thank you to our Illinois Free Legal Answers Volunteers! As of February 2023, Illinois ranks #1 in the nation of volunteer attorneys registered since the Free Legal Answers launched, with 1,077 volunteers and counting. These volunteers answered 3,335 questions in 2022. Read more »

PILI Welcomes Arthur Surratt to the Team! Arthur joined PILI on March 13th as our Attorney Program Manager. He is responsible for managing PILI’s Law Student Internship, Graduate Fellowship, and Alumni Network as well as providing support to PILI’s statewide efforts to expand and enhance pro bono. The Legal Service Agency Roundtable is April 20th. Join us on April 20th from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. at the offices of Hinshaw & Culbertson. Our topic is "What Interns, Fellows & Volunteers Want" and we have applied for 1.25 hours of Illinois MCLE Professional Responsibility Credit. Advance registration is required. Read more »

Sign Up for the Next Virtual Pro Bono CLE Series Session March 23rd! Join us for this free virtual CLE, "Understanding the New Source of Income Protection: Illinois Fair Housing Update."
