Since 1952, RFABC has been able to recognize excellence in the field through its awards program. Many outstanding individuals, groups, provincial zones and facilities have been honoured over the years.
If you know someone who deserves that recognition for their hard work and dedication to the recreation industry, please consider nominating them. The nomination form is found through the button below and only takes 15-20 minutes to complete. The deadline to submit has been extended to March 15th!

Award of Merit
Conditions of the award: Any person within the Association for meritorious service to the Association.
|

Bill Woycik Outstanding Facility Award
Awarded to one outstanding new or improved facility in the province each year.
Conditions of the award:
A recreation, sport or leisure facility that is relatively new or a newly renovated facility. It also must demonstrate meeting a community need, innovations in design, energy management, operations, revenue generation, and services. The facility or community must also have a member of good standing within the RFABC.

David Dauphinee
Memorial Trophy
This trophy was named in honour of Dave Dauphinee who was the First President of the Association.
Conditions of the award:
Willingness to assist fellow members throughout the Association, dedication and involvement within the Zone for service to overall growth of the Association, or for an outstanding new member of the Association for their dedication and achievement in their community or facility.

Gerry Morgan
Memorial Trophy
This award is named in honour of Gerry Morgan who was a long serving Association’s Secretary-Treasurer and President.
Conditions of the award:
The contribution of an individual, non-member, community or organization outside of the membership of the Recreation Facilities Association of BC. The willingness to assist throughout the Association. Service to the overall growth of the Association. Assist the Board to increase valued partnerships. Dedication and involvement with the Association.

Harry Atkinson
Memorial Trophy
This memorial trophy is in honor of the seventh President of the Association.
Conditions of the Award:
The individual must be currently working full-time for a minimum of one calendar year, in a maintenance capacity within a public or private recreation facility (e.g. pool, arena, fitness centre, community theatre). The nominee must be currently employed in front line or career entry level positions and excludes supervisory or management staff. Nominated individuals are not required to be RFABC members.

Joyce Fordyce Facility Programming Award
Joyce led by example and was involved with the technical aspects of recreation facilities and in establishing the Ice Facility Operator designation.
Conditions for the award: Individual must be currently working full-time for a minimum of one calendar year in the programming capacity within a public or private recreation facility, must be currently employed in front-line program positions and excludes supervisory or management staff. Nominations may be submitted by members.

Polar Engineering Climate Action Award
|
This award has been established by the RFABC and Polar Engineering to recognize a recreation facility that is an industry leader in climate action by taking on and implementing a bold climate action project, implementing cutting-edge green technology, and drastically reducing its carbon footprint.
Conditions of the Award: Must be a sport or leisure facility in BC, must have completed this project in the two previous calendar years, must have completed a bold climate action project by either implementing new technology or achieving deep carbon reductions, and must be a member in good standing with RFABC.

All recreation programmers welcome! Join us for some free remote and in-person networking and learning. The primary purpose of this meeting is to focus on creating a best practices for skating aid use, as well as strategies to train and support our staff when they share information with patrons. We can also discuss rental equipment and facility code of conduct, with the goal of consolidating information to have as a resource on the RFABC website.

RFAM (Recreation Facility Asset Management)
The RFABC, in collaboration with Marmak Technologies, has customized a user-friendly software application. This new software application will greatly assist recreation facility professionals in the collection and management of recreation facility asset data. The basic service is available at no cost, to all RFABC members; with a fee for service when certain modules are activated.
