Together with you, The Nature Trust of British Columbia has raised more than 80% of the $2+ million needed to protect 15 hectares (36 acres) of undeveloped land along the Little Qualicum River. We have $330,000 remaining until we reach our goal and ensure this significant land is protected forever more. Can you help us get there?

Flowing through lush forest on the mid-east coast of Vancouver Island, the Little Qualicum River is an important salmon habitat that provides an ideal spawning and rearing environment for Chinook, Coho and Chum Salmon, and Steelhead and Coastal Cutthroat Trout.

This property is in an ecological vulnerable zone and is currently zoned for logging and development. We can protect this beautiful forest for generations to come with your support.

The Nature Trust has added 77 acres of ecologically important land to our newest conservation complex on Saturna Island.

Home to endangered species like the Peregrine Falcon, Barn Swallow, and Slender Popcornflower, this island haven is now protected from development forever.

With the help of many donors, The Nature Trust has purchased 165 acres of important wetlands in the Kootenay.

The Columbia Lake North – Wetlands will protect vital staging areas for waterfowl, winter range for ungulates, and habitat for a variety of at-risk species.

Fens, bogs, marshes, swamps, peatlands, floodplains – What’s so great about wetlands?

The incredible value of wetlands is disproportionately large compared to their relatively small area in the greater BC landscape. They contain some of the richest biodiversity in the country and are some of the most productive ecosystems in the world. They clean water, control flooding and are powerful carbon sinks. The importance of protecting and managing these habitats cannot be understated given their benefits to humans and wildlife alike.

One of the most powerful ways to support The Nature Trust is to join our Arbutus Circle - a special group of donors who choose to make monthly gifts.

By giving monthly, you provide a dependable source of support that allows us to plan, protect and care for the natural spaces in your community.

Any amount helps – for example:

$25 per month funds the planting of 12 trees, restoring forests in new conservation areas.

$50 per month can fund 12 bird boxes, increasing the chance of eggs hatching.

$100 per month can fund a Conservation Field Crew member to monitor wildlife on key conservation land
