CancerCare's Stories of Help and Hope

Throughout the year, CancerCare presents the stories of people who have cancer, their caregivers and more.

Our latest story comes from Malissa, who was diagnosed with a rare form of endometrial cancer. A mother, wife and woman of faith, she discusses challenges at work, the importance of having a network of support, a positive attitude, personal empowerment and more.

She now shares her story with many others in our Stories of Help and Hope.

National Social Work Month

National Social Work Month is a time to honor our oncology social workers. Our dedicated team provides many vital services to help those impacted by cancer, including caregivers and loved ones and post-treatment survivors. In the last fiscal year alone, these services include 46,436 calls handled and 52,346 hours of emotional and practical support through our Hopeline, individual counseling, support groups, community programs and more. Thank you so much for your hard work!

Celebrate & Support CancerCare's 80th Anniversary

On Wednesday, April 17, CancerCare will host its annual Spring Gala which celebrates its 80th anniversary. This year’s event will honor the social workers of CancerCare who provide Help & Hope to anyone facing a cancer diagnosis.

The evening will include a live and silent auction that will offer special wine and food experiences, tickets to the closing ceremony of the summer Paris Olympics, tickets to opening night of the Tribeca Film Festival, food and wine packages as well as tickets to local sporting events.

Proceeds from the event will help fund the financial and psychosocial services that CancerCare provides. The need for these services increased greatly over the last year. Your support is more valuable than ever. To attend or support the gala and for more information, visit us here

Spots Available for Our Healing Hearts Family Bereavement Camp

We still have room for more families to join our free Healing Hearts Family Bereavement Camp for 2024. Every year, families join together in the beautiful Poconos to share their love and thoughts after the loss of a loved one to cancer. These three days are filled with fun activities such as horseback riding and fishing, which are combined with therapeutic grief activities led by CancerCare professional oncology social workers. This camp is for families: parents or guardians with children and teens ages four to seventeen who have lost a loved one to cancer within the past two years.
