CLUB ANNOUNCEMENTS

The 2024 Volleyball Alberta Premiers are underway, and we are ecstatic to see so many teams representing their clubs with impressive athleticism, chemistry, drive, and consistently growing and elevating our sport in Alberta! In our first three weekends of Premiers, we had the pleasure of hosting and witnessing 620 teams competing in their Premier 1 tournament! We still have Premier 1 tournaments for 12U and 13U which will bring our total Premier #1 team count to 754 a record-breaking year!

As always, respect the referees, coaches, athletes, staff, and facilities. Athletes are permitted to bring individually packed meals that fit in their personal bag; coolers, food trays, and meal preparation is not permitted in facilities. Help keep our events clean and place all trash in the bins. Respect restricted areas and if you spot a hazard or feel unsafe, please talk to your coach and see the on-site venue coordinator.

PERSON IN AUTHORITY (PIA) REQUIREMENTS

A Person in Authority may not participate in volleyball activities until they have completed a Criminal Records Checks (CRC), Safe Sport Training (SST), and annual Screening Disclosure Form (SDF). All referees, coaches, managers, trainers, club administrators/board members, registrars, team contacts, volunteers, or any Leader within a club MUST complete these 3 mandatory PIA requirements prior to working with a club or athletes.

A reminder that team staff must complete their PIA requirements prior to the tournament roster lock, so they can be added and eligible to sit on the bench for that event.

Completing these prerequisites is a small but critical step in creating a safe and welcoming sport environment. Volleyball Alberta recognizes a systemic culture shift is required to eliminate maltreatment in sport, and that everyone’s contribution and commitment is required to reach this goal.

Visit our Person in Authority Page for details on completing these three simple steps.
