Junior Volunteers

Welcome to Spring! I am thrilled to announce that our Misty Eyes Kids' Club Volunteers, consisting of kids in grades 3-6, will be meeting on April 17th from 6:30-7:30 pm to create a fantastic project. During this meeting, the kids will be making and decorating birdhouses which they can take home and place outside for our feathered friends. This event provides a great opportunity for the kids to learn, have fun, and give back to nature. Don't miss out on this event!

Additionally, I would like to express my gratitude to our older JV kids who volunteered to help us assemble Easter Baskets. These baskets are being sold to raise money for the dogs and cats here at Misty Eyes. We will be selling these baskets at Misty Eyes on the following dates and times:

  • Saturday, March 2, 10 AM - 1 PM
  • Sunday, March 24, 10 AM - 1 PM
  • Tuesday, March 26, 5 PM - 7 PM
  • Saturday, March 30, 10 AM - 1 PM

We hope you will come by and pick up a basket for Easter. Thank you for your support!

If your child is interested in being a part of Misty Eyes Kids Club (Grades 3-6) or Misty Eyes Junior Volunteers (Grades 7-12), please complete an information sheet for each student using the link below. Once we've received your completed information sheet, you will receive emails with links to sign-up for upcoming meetings.

Looking For A New Family Member?

Ladybug

Ladybug is a shy, but happy, kitty who came to Misty Eyes when pregnant. She's raised her kittens, plus a couple of orphans, and is now ready to find a forever home of her own. Ladybug is shy at first, but once she gets to know you, she's a very loving and fun companion. She enjoys rolling around on the floor, playing with toys and asking for tummy rubs. She'll sit/lie beside you and get her purr motor going, but she's not quite ready to sit on your lap and cuddle. She will sometimes give little love nips to get your attention. Since she's raised her kittens and several others, Ladybug has decided that she's over all the attention sharing, and would really like to be the only kitty in the home. If you'd like to meet Ladybug, please submit an adoption application online using the button below.

Mera

Mera is a former breeding dog who came to Misty Eyes from a downsizing puppy mill. She is about 1 year old and is a friendly, timid, shy dog who was not properly socialized. She is living in a foster home where she is learning about life as a family pet. She will need an adopting family with the time, patience and willingness to help her overcome her fear of people and to gain confidence in herself. If you'd like to meet Mera, please submit an adoption application online using the button below.

Featured Foster

The Patterson Family

Sean and Anna Patterson have fostered 13 dogs for Misty Eyes. All except their 3-legged dog, Buddy, have been puppies! The family likes to foster because, well, it's fun! They also really enjoy being able to give a dog a safe, temporary place to grow and learn before going to their forever homes. Billie, their personal dog, enjoys all the puppies that come to stay with them because of all the playtime! In their spare time the Patterson family enjoys staying active, working out, or attending their sporting events. When their pups are fully vaccinated, they take them on hikes and walks as a family.

Thank you Sean and Anna Patterson from all of us for all you do!

Training Tails March

Ring Me

In the January and February Editions of Training Tails, I gave detailed instructions on teaching “Go to Mat” and “Stay." Using a mat can be a very powerful tool if practiced frequently. Today we’ll see it used for “Ring Me.”

Does your dog go crazy when someone comes to your door? One of the ways to improve this situation is to send your dog to their mat. Part of their alarm at a guest is not knowing a person is coming to visit. Some dogs, just like some people, don’t like surprises! Below is an exercise using the dog’s mat and treats to alert the dog that a person or change is about to come into their environment.
