Dear Parents / Guardians,
As we look forward to warmer weather and a spring that will bring renewed life to the outdoors, our campus is always full of life and bustling as we head towards the home stretch of our school year. I would like to thank everyone for their work at promoting our school. As I always say, we are all a part of the marketing plan for JCA.
It seems that our school year is once again progressing at a rapid pace and summer will be here before you know it. March 8th marks the end of the 3rd quarter and the beginning of the 4th quarter to our school year. We have had a very good winter and are looking forward to all of the good things that Spring brings!
We had a great number of students take the placement exam this year and are hoping for great registration numbers. Current student course registration is happening as I write this letter and that process is an ongoing event. If you have any questions about registration, please do not hesitate to call Ms. Pahl, our Associate Principal or any of our counselors. Also, if you have questions or concerns about tuition, please do not hesitate to call Mr. Quigley or Mrs. Horn for financial aid information or Mrs. Turturillo in the Business office.
As we look at the calendar for the month of March, it seems that the days are getting busier. Our Spring Musical, Little Shop of Horrors opens on March 7-9th. We are in the midst of our Student Art Show, which is highlighted in our Art Gallery in the IRC culminating with the Art Honors Society Induction on March 12th, and we have the National Honor Society Induction on the 18th.
Just around the corner, on Saturday, March 23rd, JCA is hosting our annual fundraiser event, Jubilate. This year the theme is Adventure Awaits and our Co-Chairs for the evening are Nicole and Mike Murray and Tracy and Brian Zabel. That evening, JCA will be honoring the Carmelites of the Most Pure Heart of Mary and the Sisters of St. Francis of Mary Immaculate with the Presidents’ Award. These two organizations have given us our past and present schools and the Traditions that we celebrate and nurture today. Please know that everyone is invited to attend this yearly event! Please call Mrs. Chris Voss if you are interested in purchasing tickets.
Needless to say, there’s never a dull moment on campus! And as always; if there is anything we can do to help your family and child succeed and thrive at Joliet Catholic Academy, please do not hesitate to call, email, or set up an appointment to see any of our administrators.
Blessings,

On March 1st we hosted a 𝓒𝓪𝓽𝓱𝓸𝓵𝓲𝓬 𝓒𝓸𝓵𝓵𝓮𝓰𝓮 𝓕𝓪𝓲𝓻 for our sophomore and junior classes which gave them the chance to meet with representatives from more than 20 colleges from across the country. This was a great opportunity for our JCA students to learn about different colleges, their admission process, the programs they offer, and to find out which colleges might be a good fit for their educational and career goals.

This year, JCA again participated in the Black Teen Summit at JJC with 26 of our students and it was an outstanding success! Students were able to listen to a variety of presenters, including job and scholarship info, hear about Black History, have lunch, and mingle with other Black students in the area. There almost 500 students present and JCA was proud to be represented at such a great event.

March is Brain Injury Awareness Month and its goal is to educate us that the most common form of head injury is called mild traumatic brain injury, or “concussion.” Usually caused by a blow to the head.
- 19.5% of high school athletes have had a concussion.
- 5.5% of high school athletes have had more than one concussion.
- 70% of all sports and recreation-related brain injuries were reported in people ages 19 and younger.
A concussion is a complex pathophysiological process affecting the brain, induced by traumatic biochemical forces. ALL CONCUSSIONS ARE SERIOUS!
Headache is the most common symptom. Along, with nausea and/or vomiting, confusion or feeling “foggy,” dizziness, drowsiness, fatigue, ringing in the ears, fatigue, sensitivity to light and/or sound, difficulty concentrating and/or remembering, balance issues, more emotional, irritable, or sad, visual or sleep disturbances.
Any student who has symptoms of a concussion after a hit or jolt to the brain should be taken out of play or practice. Most people with concussions (>90%) do no pass out. Any student suspected of having a concussion should not return to play until cleared by a physician.
