EAC Green Tip of the Month
March 18 is Global Recycling Day
Here are a few ways to mark the occasion:
- Always try to REDUCE and REUSE before you recycle (forgo plastic grocery bags; use the two-sided option when printing; donate clothing, toys and household items rather than throw them away; buy fewer but higher-quality, longer-lasting clothes, shoes and household items).
-
Familiarize yourself with where and how in Montgomery County to recycle unusual items: Recycling from A-Z
- Start collecting your household batteries and your old and unused device chargers and cords; CDs and DVDs and their cases/packaging; VCR and cassette tapes (even 8-tracks if you still have some!) and their cases/packaging; and plan to deliver them to the EAC’s collection events. (See Township calendar for dates.)
- Become an exemplary, consistent curbside recycler: only clean, dry plastics #1,2, and 5; only clean, dry cardboard (get a covered bin from Republic Services if you don’t already have one); dry newsprint, magazines, food boxes and office paper (no gift wrap, receipts, waxed or other coated papers, envelopes with “windows” or lined with bubble wrap); clean glass used for food and drinks (no candle holders, mirrors, window glass).
Mark your calendar for these upcoming EAC events:
