Welcome to our newsletter. Once a month we will update you with news about David Matero Architecture and our community. We welcome your comments, questions and feedback.
Kennebec Terrace
The Kennebec Terrace was very pretty after a rare Maine snow storm this year. The covered walkway connecting the three structures is certainly welcomed in this weather. The house seems so peaceful with is low unimposing roof and large glass opened to the ever changing Kennebec River. Construction by Chartier Building & Remodeling.
Foreside
The masonry fireplace is almost complete at Foreside. The wood siding has begun to be installed starting at the large stair windows. The soaring roofline sets the stage for wonderful eastern views of Casco Bay. Construction by Downeast Design/Build.
Salt Pond Retreat
It's fun to see the plywood installed to get a real sense of the massing and proportion of our design at Salt Pond Retreat in Blue Hill. The end of the house will be a lovely library/reading room with views of the water and meadow to the west. Exterior sunshades will help shade the summer sun. Construction by Jon D. Woodward & Sons.
Cedar Ranch Redo
New owners have taken over a house we worked on many years ago in Harpswell. This new project will be getting a complete makeover by Wogan Bros. this summer. There will be an addition for a garage with studio above, and a fully renovated interior that involves a deep energy retrofit.
On the Drawing Board
We are currently in the pricing stage at this single-story, energy-efficient home in Durham. The southern exposure to the meadow, and purposely design south-facing roof, will provide all the power for this home, modeled to be net-zero. Construction this summer by Rideout & Turner.
