March is Problem Gambling Awareness Month

The Bettor Choice Gambling Treatment Program helps individuals and families cope and recover from this challenging problem. Treatment may include individual, group, marital and/or family therapy.

Supporting the New Britain Community

On March 7th, we distributed food to nearly 130 members of the New Britain community with help from our Health Ambassador volunteers from Mott, thanks to our partnership with Connecticut Foodshare. This amazing mobile food pantry happens on alternate Fridays at our community health center at 40 Hart Street.

Wheeler’s Extended Day Treatment: Strengthening Families and Transforming Lives

Wheeler’s Extended Day Treatment (EDT) program provides intensive afterschool therapeutic services to support youth and families, helping them stay together and thrive. Offering group, individual, and family therapy, along with psychiatric care, the program uses evidence-based models to address diverse needs. A dedicated multidisciplinary team, see above, works closely with families to foster positive interactions and reduce out-of-home placements. With proven success in improving school attendance, reducing hospitalizations, and increasing family stability, EDT is making a lasting impact in the community.

School-based Celebrate Bristol Art and Photo Contest: Entries Due May 30

As part of the upcoming national 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, and the City of Bristol’s local celebration through its Bristol America250 Committee, Wheeler Health and the City of Bristol invite all students in Bristol to celebrate this milestone and our amazing city by creating and sharing original artwork or photography featuring Bristol-focused places, events, people, or iconic symbols. Watercolor and acrylic paintings, color pencil, crayon, or charcoal drawings, as well as all forms of photography, including cell phone images, are welcome!


Winning entries, selected by a community leaders, will be featured in a 2026 “Celebrate Bristol” calendar, free while supplies last.


Entries are due on May 30, 2025.

Applications Open For New Class of Residents at Wheeler

Applications are open until April 2025 for the Fall 2025 class. Our primary care and psychiatry residency programs for nurse practitioners and physician assistants provide hands-on, mission-focused experience in a leading Federally Qualified Health Center with a focus on providing community-based care.
