How Appointment-Based Intake Helps Lost Pets and Our Community

Since introducing appointment-based intake in November 2022, we've helped more lost pets in less time—thanks to the incredible support of our community. This consent-based system enables us to reunite more pets with their families, minimize stress for animals entering the shelter, and prioritize our resources for those who need them most.

Vaccine and Wellness Clinic

At the Humane Society for Tacoma & Pierce County, we recognize the importance of making veterinary care accessible to all pets. In partnership with Petco Love, we provide no-cost (while supplies last) and low-cost vaccines, parasite preventatives, and microchips to income-qualifying community members during our monthly Vaccine and Wellness Clinics.

Our next Vaccine & Wellness Clinic will take place on Saturday, April 26. Appointments open the Monday before the clinic around noon.

For clinic offerings and vaccine information, visit our website's Vaccine and Wellness Clinic page.

Lend Us a Paw

There are many ways to support our animals. Here are two simple ways you can lend a paw this month:

  • Donate volunteer snacks: Did you know we're a volunteer-driven organization that relies on over 430 volunteers to provide enrichment and exercise for the pets in our care? You can help keep them energized by providing pre-packaged, non-perishable snacks and goodies.
  • Bring us your newspaper: We use newspaper to line litterboxes and are running low. Please drop by your old papers and we'll put them to good use! (Must be dry.)

Thank you!
