Message from Dean Egerstedt

The quality of our engineering program is directly linked to the quality of our faculty. And our faculty are world-class. This was clearly on display recently as Distinguished Professors Kyriacos Athanasiou (Department of Biomedical Engineering) and Eric Rignot (Departments of Earth System Science and Civil and Environmental Engineering) were elected into the National Academy of Engineering, which is one of the highest professional distinctions an engineer can achieve. This announcement was followed by another piece of good news as Henry Samueli, Distinguished Adjunct Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, and namesake of the Henry Samueli School of Engineering, was named the recipient of the IEEE Medal of Honor. This is the highest distinction awarded by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. Talk about world-class!

Best,

Magnus Egerstedt, Ph.D.
