Citywide Flushing Program

The City of South Gate will begin its water pipe flushing program in Zone 5B during the week of March 16 through March 20, 2025. This program helps ensure safe and reliable drinking water for the community. The flushing will take place Sunday night through Thursday, from 10:00 PM to 4:00 AM.

What You Need to Know:

  • Affected Area: Zone 1, located between Independence Ave (South), Santa Ana Street (North), California Ave (East), and Long Beach Blvd (West).
  • Possible Discolored Water: You may experience discolored water during flushing. If this happens, simply run your faucets for 5 minutes to clear it.
  • Minimize Water Use: Please avoid using water during flushing hours to prevent possible issues like discolored water.
  • Persistent Discoloration: If water remains discolored after flushing, please contact Public Works at 323-563-5790 for assistance.

Why Are We Doing This?

Flushing is a standard procedure to maintain high-quality water service. The flushing in Zone 5B will take place the week of March 2 through March 6, and notices will be provided, including door hangers.

The program will continue through June with different areas of the city each week. For the most up to date information, please follow our social media pages on Facebook and Instagram.

South Gate Roadway Safety Plan Community Survey

The City is developing the Comprehensive Safety Action (CSA) and Local Roadway Safety Plan (LRSP) Project to evaluate traffic safety and identify potential roadway improvements.

By reviewing traffic patterns and historical collision data, the project aims to highlight areas where enhancements may be considered. This effort studies the needs of motorists, pedestrians, and bicyclists to support travel throughout the City.

For more information, please contact Lorenzo Camargo at (323) 563-9594 or lcamargo@sogate.org.
