BCDI-Atlanta March Activity Guides: Legacy of Care: Our Earth, Our Future

BCDI-Atlanta is excited to share our March Activity Guides, designed to inspire environmental stewardship while celebrating African American contributions to sustainability.

For Ages 0-5: Young learners will explore how caring for the Earth is part of our cultural heritage, fostering a deep appreciation for nature through engaging, hands-on activities.

For Ages 6-8: Elementary-aged children will dive deeper into environmental responsibility with meaningful projects that highlight conservation and sustainability efforts within our community.

These guides empower families and educators to nurture the next generation of earth-conscious leaders. Together, we honor our past while building a sustainable future!

On February 6th, BCDI-Atlanta proudly joined over 150 advocates from 33 Georgia cities at the Georgia State Capitol for GEEARS' Eighth Annual Strolling Thunder. This impactful event provided families with young children the opportunity to engage directly with legislators, sharing their experiences and advocating for policies that support early childhood development. Together, we emphasized the importance of prioritizing families with young children to build strong communities and a prosperous state.

Read Across America Week

BCDI-Atlanta was honored to celebrate the joy of reading on March 7, 2025, at Starling Elementary School. We shared culturally responsive books with students, reinforcing our commitment to early literacy and representation.

We believe every child deserves access to stories that reflect their identity and experiences. By reading and distributing these books, we help young readers see themselves in the pages and develop a lifelong love for learning.

BCDI-Atlanta was honored at Georgia Reads Day on February 25, 2025, receiving a resolution from the Georgia Senate in recognition of our Read to Succeed initiative. This program, in partnership with key community organizations, promotes early literacy by ensuring families have access to culturally responsive and developmentally appropriate books. Standing alongside fellow literacy advocates at the Capitol, we celebrated the collective impact we've made and look forward to continuing our work to uplift children and families through education and collaboration. Thank you to our partners for making this recognition possible!
