Helping High School Student Athletes Realize Their Dreams | | Celebrating our 15th Year! | | |
Hi Everyone,
After 15 incredible years, I have decided to step down from running the day-to-day operations of Advocates for Athletes (A4A). As I reflect on this incredible journey, I can’t help but feel immense gratitude for the years of growth, challenges, and triumphs. My love for sports has always been a driving force in my life, whether as a player, parent, coach, or simply a fan.
When my son, Spencer, began navigating the college recruiting process, I truly understood how much families needed an advocate to help them. After struggling through hundreds of hours of research and confusion, my wife and I realized that there had to be a better way. That’s when the idea for A4A was born – a company dedicated to guiding families through the complicated recruiting process with personalized care and expertise. And from there, we created something that I could never have imagined would grow into what it is today.

Since founding A4A in 2010, we’ve had the privilege of helping over 750 athletes from 17 states and 5 countries find their best college fit. Through our hands-on, personalized approach, we’ve seen athletes soar to new heights, both academically and athletically. With a 91.5% graduation rate from the original college choice, I know that we’ve made a lasting impact on many lives.
As Vice President of A4A, Spencer will now be in charge of all operations. My passion for helping athletes will always remain, and I’m confident our business is in incredibly good hands with Spencer at the helm. To see him take the reins and continue to push the mission forward with the same passion and vision that started it all fills me with pride. I’m excited to watch how A4A will continue to evolve and grow under his leadership.
I want to thank each and every one of you for your unwavering support over the years. Your trust in A4A and our commitment to your athletes has meant the world to me. I am confident that A4A will continue to be a beacon of hope and guidance for families navigating the world of college recruiting.
While this chapter may be winding down for me, it is really just getting started for Spencer. Please continue to support him in the continued success of A4A.
Thank you all for being part of this incredible journey!

From The Desk of: Spencer Britschgi,
Vice President, Advocates for Athletes
As I sit back and think about my time with A4A and working with my dad, I can’t help but feel a deep sense of appreciation. Getting to work alongside my role model over the years has been such an incredible experience. Not only have I learned so much from him every single day, but I’ve also had the chance to see the real impact we’ve had on so many student-athletes and their families.
Watching him build A4A from the ground up has been truly inspiring. When I started getting more involved in the business, I got to see firsthand how much care and dedication he put into helping every athlete reach their dreams. The amount of time, energy, and love he poured into this company is something I’ll always admire.
While it’s definitely bittersweet to see him step away from the day-to-day, I’m looking forward to continuing the mission he started and seeing where I can take the business next. The foundation he’s built is something I’m incredibly proud of, and I’m committed to making sure we keep moving forward, helping even more athletes find their best college fit.
I want to take a moment to thank everyone for your continued support over the years. It has meant the world to both of us. The passion and drive my dad brought to A4A will always be at the heart of everything we do, and I’m excited to keep that alive as we move into this next chapter.
Thanks for being part of the journey with us – I can’t wait to see what’s next!
Best,
Spencer Britschgi

From The Desk of: Dr. Laurel Mines with Bay Laurel Athletics
Athletes can develop in four areas: physical performance, skill, strategy, and mental performance. Of these, mental performance stands out, by far, as the biggest game-changer.
Strengthening mental resilience contributes to and amplifies all other aspects of development. Bay Laurel Athletics coach middle school to professional athletes, and athletes have seen results well exceed their expectations through mental coaching.
When is the best time to start? Yesterday was the best time and today is the next best time. Off-season training allows for focused training when time is less constraining, while in-season coaching offers immediate results in real-time on the court. Mental performance training sets athletes up for success not only athletically but also academically and in life.
Bay Laurel Athletics is parents' choice for mental support for their cherished student-athletes. Discounts are available for A4A athletes. Ready to see what your athlete can achieve? Let's make it happen together!

From The Desk of: Michael Romano,
"Mr. Test Prep"
Why and how do I connect with athletes?
First off, I want to give a huge shoutout to Steve Britschgi and the entire Advocates 4 Athletes Team. 15 years have flown by, and the impact you've made is undeniable. Steve’s passion for changing young athletes' lives is both inspiring and transformative, and I’m honored to be affiliated with someone of his caliber.
I love sports. Whether it’s LeBron, Mahomes, Steph, the Niners I’m all in. Any sport, any time. But what truly connects me with athletes is that I am one. I’ve been a champion swimmer, a water polo player, a cross country runner, a soccer player, a baseball player, a skier, and above all, a basketball player (Go Blue Devils!). As a former student-athlete, I understand the unique challenges they face: juggling academics, dealing with the pressure to perform, and managing the mental and emotional toll of injuries or tough losses. I’ve walked in those shoes and can empathize.
This shared experience leads to greater trust, stronger rapport, and ultimately better test results. More importantly, I don’t just tutor—I coach. Athletes thrive with a coach-as-mentor dynamic, and they respond far better to a coach than to a traditional tutor. That’s the key to unlocking their full potential, on and off the field.
