There's a spring in our step now that March has arrived with ballet dancers pliéing and twirling all around the Stairway Studio. Read on to find out what spectacular events are headed your way at Maywood Fine Arts!

La Esmeralda - A Love Story for the Ages

Maywood Fine Arts is thrilled to present the classic ballet, La Esmeralda, a powerful love story inspired by Victor Hugo's, The Hunchback of Notre Dame.

This year's Classical Ballet for New Audiences' artistic directors have created a child-friendly version of this ballet which is rarely performed in North America. The professional dancers Lucia Grave and Luis Cordero from Guatemala are returning to perform, this time in the principal roles of Esmeralda and her true love, Phoebus, accompanied by MFA's amazingly talented ballet students forming the corps de ballet.

The public performance will be held at the Elmhurst Christian Reformed Church in Elmhurst on March 14th starting at 7PM. Families, children and supporters are ALL encouraged to attend and are guaranteed to head home smiling and 100% satisfied after an evening of incredible entertainment!

The 2010 John Prine Proviso East Concert for MFA!

“How Lucky Can One Man Get” is John Prine’s 2010 Proviso East Concert Film. John Prine gave Maywood Fine Arts “something to hold on to” with this benefit concert performed at his alma mater, Proviso East, in what he called “the concert of his life”. This benefit concert helped Maywood Fine Arts rise from the ashes after a devastating fire.

Join us for a fundraiser on April 9th to relive this performance. Witness John’s amazing storytelling both on stage and off along with a finale with all his brothers and sons. Following the film there will be a panel Q&A with Fiona Prine, Jason Wilber and Lois Baumann with Mark Gaurino moderating!

There is a Special VIP Experience available that includes the following:

Maywood Fine Arts Stole Hearts at One Lake Brewing!

A spectacular time was had by everyone who gathered on February 13th at One Lake Brewing! Staff, alumni and supporters alike celebrated the fact that Maywood Fine Arts continues to make an incredibly positive and powerful impact on the lives of its students, their families and the community!

Over a hundred people attended the fundraiser, sharing food, heartwarming stories, laughter and, last but not least, LOVE for MFA and its commitment to transforming the lives of youth.

The event raised close to $18K and we feel nothing but gratitude to everyone who contributed to the evening's success!

Le Tour de Shore Registration is Open!

The year whizzes by when you're riding a bike to support Maywood Fine Arts! The hugely popular 100-mile fundraiser, Le Tour de Shore, has reached its 21st year and keeps getting better and better.

Over 400 riders have already signed up to ride for the kids at MFA and this is news well worth celebrating!

So start pumping those tires and clear your schedule for the weekend of June 13-14. Let's make 2025 a banner year for the LTDS!!

Karate Kid Champs!

Karate senseis, Yolanda and Matthew Hilligoss faces' clearly show pride in their students Charlie Quinones and Ora Burns while attending the 2025 Karate Central District Championship in Grayslake on February 16. Ora placed 1st in Kumite (sparring) and 2nd in Kata (forms) while Charlie placed 4th in Kumite and 9th in Kata. Way to go guys!

Next up for these champions is participating in the AAU Karate Championships in Indianapolis March 7-8. Everyone at Maywood Fine Arts will be rooting for you!
