LOWER CAPE ELECTRIC AND

J.F. YOUNG CO. KEEP US RUNNING!

When we needed electricity for lights, heating and cooling in our temporary trailer, these two community partners teamed up to make it happen. Lower Cape Electric connected the trailer to electrical service on Route 6, while Jeremy Young trimmed limbs that were blocking access. Lower Cape Electric’s owners, William and Keith Reeves, included a note on the invoice. It read, in part: “…we are proud to be able to help keep you guys running. Please accept our work as a donation and a thank-you for your community service.” Jeremy Young added, “We got the call from Lower Cape Electric that they needed us, and we came right away. We were happy to help.” There was no charge. Another great example of community neighbors supporting each other. A heartfelt thank you to both!

OUR ADA COMPLIANT RAMP IS COMPLETE!

We now have a safe and accessible entrance to our pantry. This is in thanks, of course, to Mid-Cape Home Centers for donating a significant amount of lumber and to Ace Handyman Services for greatly reducing the cost of their labor. A successful joint project!

VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT

No project the pantry takes on would be possible without the help of our volunteers. Steve Gazzano is one volunteer who has put his skills to work coordinating and facilitating our ramp project. Steve has a long history of community service. He volunteered as an Ombudsman at Pleasant Bay Nursing Home for Elder Services and as a Surrogate Parent for children with special needs, acting as their representative in school and institutional settings. At Lily House, he coordinated volunteer work with that of contractors and tradespeople. We are so lucky he volunteered to act as a liaison between the food pantry and our ramp construction crew. Steve was also a trouble shooter and communicator on this project and spent a lot of time on site monitoring progress. Steve believes "The Wellfleet Food Pantry is a weaver of community through serving neighbors with gratitude, compassion, and an open heart." Thank you, Steve, for all you do!

REPRESENTATIVE HADLEY LUDDY MEETS WITH MEMBERS OF THE WELLFLEET FOOD PANTRY BOARD OF DIRECTORS.
