Meet DCI's New Board President

Dave Dorsett

Kerlin Bus Sales & Leasing, Inc.

Professional Questions:

How long have you been a Drive Clean Indiana Board Member?

"I have been on the board since 2021."

Why did you join the DCI Board?

"I joined the board to be a part of DCI and its mission. Growing up in the agriculture world, "down on the farm" as some say it, I always wanted to help make things better. Our air better to breathe, our grass greener, and our communities and towns more sustainable. DCI works toward that daily."

What excites you about being our new Board President?

"Being Board President excites me as I can help lead DCI into the new future we face with the new administration in office. Being at the forefront alongside really good people encourages me to be a leader and stay informed on what we can do for the betterment of the coalition and the state of Indiana."

What DCI event do you enjoy the most?

"I enjoy all of our events! I love having the opportunity to network with customers and stakeholders that I work with daily at Kerlin Bus and DCI. If I had to pick a favorite, it would be our Annual Clean Air Golf Outing."

Get to Know Dave:

What is something not many people know about you?

"In 1993, I survived an almost fatal car crash. I had to be revived three times. Seeing where I am now with my life, family, friends, my position with Kerlin Bus, and DCI, I know I am a very blessed person."

How do you spend your time outside of work?

"Outside of work, I enjoy boating and soaking up the sun with my family and friends. I love spending time with my wife, children (now grown), and my dog Dotti."

Coffee or tea?

"Coffee in the A.M. and sweet tea in the afternoon."

What is your favorite book?

"A Season on the Brink by John Feinstein. The book follows the 1985-86 Indiana University men's basketball team, coached by Bob Knight."

What is something you're looking forward to?

"I look forward to seeing where my children land in their lives. The paths that they seek, and watching them grow and mature. I look forward to growing in my work and continuing healthy and prosperous relationships with my wife and family."

March Highlighted Fuel

Ethanol is a renewable fuel made from corn and various other plant materials collectively known as “biomass”. The use of ethanol is widespread, with more than 95 percent of U.S. gasoline containing ethanol in a low-level blend to oxygenate the fuel and reduce air pollution.

Ethanol is also available as E85, a high-level ethanol blend containing 51 percent to 83 percent ethanol, depending on geography and season. The blend can be used in flexible fuel vehicles which have an internal combustion engine and run on either E85 or gasoline. According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, there are more than 8 million FFVs on U.S. roads today. However, many flex fuel vehicle owners don’t realize their car is an FFV and that they have a choice of fuels.

Indiana bill aims to create tax credits to support sales of higher ethanol, biodiesel and renewable diesel blends

"The bill aims to create a tax credit of 5 cents per gallon of higher ethanol blends sold and dispensed by a retailer. Higher ethanol blends are defined as those containing 15% to 85% ethanol. The legislation caps the credit at $10,000 per fiscal year."
