From the Executive Director
Dear Independence Alliance Supporters,
March is National Developmental Disability Awareness Month!
This is a segment in time dedicated to raising awareness about the inclusion of people with developmental disabilities in all aspects of community life. This month-long observance highlights the importance of creating a society where everyone, regardless of their abilities, can thrive and succeed.
Developmental disabilities include a range of conditions such as autism spectrum disorders, cerebral palsy, and intellectual disabilities, which can affect physical, learning, language, or behavior.
National Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month (NDDAM) is a powerful reminder of the importance of inclusion and the value of diversity in our communities. By celebrating the contributions of individuals with developmental disabilities and working together to remove barriers, we can create a world where everyone has the opportunity to succeed.
Let us make this March a month of building awareness and acceptance. (Join in the DD Awareness & Advocacy Day Watch on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, with our partners at Hamilton County Developmental Disabilities Services). I encourage you all to take one action in the month of March on behalf of all people with developmental disabilities. Together, we can build a more inclusive and supportive community for all.
As always, I enjoy hearing from you. Please feel free to contact me at 513-338-5100 or by email.
Sincerely,
Rob
Rob Festenstein
Executive Director
P.S. In honor of NDDAM, here is a trivia contest. The fourth person to submit a correct answer will be the lucky winner of a $10 Amazon gift card. Who was the first person with a developmental disability to appear as a regular cast member in a television sit-com? Email your answer!
