We're thrilled to announce that The James G. Boswell Foundation has donated $3 million to Valley Children's Healthcare to fund essential programs that rely on community support and grants, helping patients during and after their hospital stay. The contribution is the largest philanthropic gift ever made by the J.G. Boswell Company and commemorates its 100th anniversary of farming in the San Joaquin Valley.
"Our mission is to give back to the communities in which we operate, and it means so much to us to partner with an organization like Valley Children's that really does make such a profound difference in families' lives," said Cameron Boswell, vice president of administration for the J.G. Boswell Company. "They're at the forefront of saving lives, and I don’t think there is a more important cause than that."
"We are deeply grateful for the James G. Boswell Foundation’s extraordinary generosity and the family’s unwavering trust in our team," said Valley Children's Healthcare President and CEO Todd Suntrapak. "Their support is a testament to their belief in our mission and the vital work we do for the children and families of this region."
Funds will support, in part, patient services and programs, including:
- Cancer Survivorship: college scholarships for patients in Valley Children’s in the Fresno Truck Center Cancer Survivorship Program.
- Adaptive Sports: purchase of updated equipment to allow children with physical disabilities to participate in athletics and recreational activities.
- Spiritual Support: funding for Valley Children’s chaplaincy program, including the future renovation of the hospital’s Jensen Family Chapel and support for the annual Celebration of Life event, which provides families who have lost a loved one a supportive environment for grieving and healing.
- Enhanced services and key social activities that support patients cared for by Valley Children’s neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) and nephrology teams.
Based in Southern San Joaquin Valley, J.G. Boswell Company is engaged in the production, processing and marketing of cotton, tomatoes, oil seeds, orchards and cattle. Since its formation in 1925, the company has been closely held and operated by the Boswell family. Throughout its history, J.G.
