Join us at Sturgis Library as we welcome author/journalist Meera Subramanian as she discusses her newly released nonfiction graphic novel, A Better World Is Possible: Global Youth Confront the Climate Crisis.
Woven through the stories are deeply researched and fact-checked interludes that explore climate science, environmental justice, biodiversity, and more, along with—of course—solutions!
Copies of the book will be for sale at the event thanks to our friends from Titcomb's Bookshop.

Find color inspiration all around you as we explore colors at this creative workshop for all skill levels!
Each participant will select several small objects and arrange them in a flat lay design.
Using watercolor paints, participants will try to color match select colors from the flat lay we’ve created.
Using the color palette we’ve pulled, we’ll create our own original watercolor painting!

Do you have boxes of old letters, diaries and memorabilia cluttering your closets? Maybe you've dreamed of transforming them into a book, or perhaps you're tempted to toss them in the recycle bin.
These records may hold important clues to your family history-- or someone else's. They may shed light on what life was like at a time that feels vastly different from the current day.
Join novelist Cynthia "Cindy" Elder for an interactive workshop on working with family history records. Participants are welcome to bring examples of their own historical documents. You will learn methods of organization, research and archival preservation, while you explore your next steps for transforming these treasures into something that can be shared with future generations.

What powers do courts have, and how do they fit within our system of government? How do federal and state courts differ, and what happens in a courtroom when questions of fairness, rights, and government authority arise?
In this fireside chat, Judge Sarah A. Turano-Flores will offer a clear, accessible overview of the justice system. The conversation will explore principles such as due process and equal protection, and how courts apply these ideas in real cases.
Drawing on recent federal and Massachusetts court decisions, the discussion will highlight how courts address issues involving government powers, individual rights, and access to justice. This civics refresher is open to all and includes time for audience questions.

Join The Letter Writing Club and pledge to write one letter each month for the entire year.
Club members are encouraged to gather at Sturgis Library on the second Tuesday of the month where stationery, art supplies, a letter prompt, and a sense of connection will be provided.
Club members needn’t gather in person; if gathering in person is not possible, letter prompts can be emailed to club members.

In honor of Women’s History Month, our March Patron Picks Spotlight features longtime Sturgis Library patron and local author Janis Robinson Daly, whose writing brings long-overlooked women from history into the light.
Janis shares reflections on the lifelong role reading has played in her journey as a writer, her love of the library as a creative refuge, and a thoughtfully curated list of historical fiction recommendations celebrating women who challenged expectations and shaped history.
Visit the library throughout March to explore her full spotlight and to see her thoughtfully curated book list.
Dont forget to check out her newest novel released this month, Under Two Flags, a retelling of a Boston woman’s 1918 memoir that follows Josephine Marzynski from Boston to Berlin to study opera, before she finds herself labeled an enemy of the state when America enters World War I.

We are planning our 2026 garden tours as part of the Cape Cod Hydrangea Festival, and are looking for a few more nice gardens to be on our tour.
Each year we partner with homeowners who allow the public to tour their gardens. There is a $5 admission fee per garden, and proceeds benefit Sturgis Library. We provide volunteers to take admission and assist with parking if needed. The homeowner can choose to mix and mingle with visitors or leave it to the volunteers.
The tours will take place on Saturday, July 11th from 10am to 4pm.
Gardens don't have to have hydrangeas! We have showcased a number of varied gardens over the years including perennial gardens, pollinator gardens, lush vegetable gardens, marsh-side gardens, gardens with a view, children's gardens, and others.
