New Renaissance Society signs, progress on key initiatives, and a busy season ahead.
Spring has arrived in Fondren, and the neighborhood is beginning to bloom in more ways than one.
One of the things I love most about spring in Fondren is that you can actually see the neighborhood coming back to life - in the gardens, on the streets, and in the ideas that continue to move our community forward.
Already, you are seeing the 2026 Fondren Renaissance Society signs appearing in yards around the district as we deliver them to our members. Those signs have become a small but meaningful tradition. They are a visible reminder that the strength of this neighborhood comes from the people who choose to invest in its future.
Those Renaissance Society signs are more than yard markers - they’re a symbol of neighbors investing together in Fondren’s future.
Behind the scenes, we’ve also been making progress on several initiatives connected to the Fondren Forward vision. One of the most exciting is our early work to establish a Community Development Corporation (CDC) that will help us guide blight elimination and thoughtful development, while protecting key opportunities for the neighborhood.
That effort connects closely with our ongoing conversations about the future of Eubanks Creek. The City of Jackson is pursuing federal funding to address flooding concerns, and we are continuing to explore how the creek corridor could one day become an asset for Fondren, improving drainage while creating green space and public amenities.
And of course, planning is already underway for one of our favorite community traditions, the fifth annual Bottle Tree & Garden Tour, coming June 6, 2026.
If you see one of those Renaissance Society signs going up this spring, know that it represents neighbors working together to keep Fondren moving forward.
