March Is National Social Work Month

In March, we honor CancerCare's oncology social workers during National Social Work Month. Our social workers form the backbone of our vital services, devoting over 100,000 hours throughout the year to our support groups and community programs, answering Hopeline calls, offering counseling and much more to those affected by cancer.

More about what our oncology social workers do can be found in this fact sheet and this video.

Thank you to our oncology social workers!

Categorized by forms of assistance from transportation, financial advice to camps and retreats, as well as support according to diagnosis are updated in the latest version of A Helping Hand: The 2026 Resource Guide for People With Cancer. You can also find these organizations in our searchable online database.

Caregiving Without a Roadmap

Last month, CancerCare and the National Alliance for Caregiving released the report "Caregiving Without a Roadmap: Insights from Cancer Caregivers" based on listening sessions with more than 100 caregivers nationwide. Caregivers reported taking on complex medical tasks with little preparation, financial strain and barriers to support. The report calls for recognizing caregivers as essential members of the cancer care team and expanding training, access to resources and addressing social determinants of health.
