F-1 Visa Regulation Reminders

As an F-1 international student, you are required to follow all Visa Rules & Regulations.

Program Extensions

Please review the Program End Date on page 1 of your Form I-20 to make sure it covers the time needed to complete your degree at SRJC. If you have changed your major or received a Reduced Course Load, you may need additional time. Meet with Amanda Mansfield during ISP Drop-In Hours (Tues/Thurs, 9:00am-2:00pm) or schedule an appointment to update your Education Plan, then submit a Program Extension Request before your current I-20 expires. ⚠️Immigration regulations may change soon, so please take action as early as possible.

Check Your I-94 After Each Entry

Every time you enter the U.S. in F-1 status, a new electronic I-94 record is created by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). You can access and download your most recent I-94 here. This document confirms the immigration status in the U.S.. It is very important to review this record carefully after each arrival to make sure your status and “Admit Until” information are correct. Please download and save a copy for your personal records.

Report Address Changes

Immigration regulations require F-1 students to notify their DSO within 10 days of moving to a new address. You can do this by updating your profile information in your Student Portal. Please make sure your address is always up to date to avoid delays or issues with your immigration record.

If you have any questions about these rules and regulations, you can book an appointment or email the ISP Advisor at ralvarez@santarosa.edu.

International Student Spotlight

Meet Dinan!

Growing up in Cambodia, I was taught that education is the most powerful form of stability, and moving to the United States challenged me to apply that belief in a completely new environment. Living alone in the United States has shown me both the challenges and rewards of independence, and even though I miss being surrounded by my family, their encouragement motivates me to stay strong. Cambodia is unique because of its rich history, strong cultural identity, and resilient people, and it is home to Angkor Wat, the largest religious monument in the world. I chose to come to the United States because I wanted to live independently, expand my perspective, and pursue growth over comfort.
