Expanding Digital Access in Manitowoc County

Techquity Momentum Continues to Grow

The digital world moves fast and for many in our community, keeping up starts with having the right device. That’s why we’re proud to continue advancing the Techquity program, a statewide initiative making technology more accessible for individuals and families who need it most. Techquity provides refurbished laptops to eligible residents, helping remove barriers to education, employment, financial stability, and connection.

Here in Manitowoc County, the impact is already clear and growing. In just the first three months of 2026, we have:

  • Distributed 13 laptops in January
  • 21 laptops in February
  • And will distribute 24 more by the end of March

With new inventory arriving monthly and referrals increasing, our local program is on track to meet its goal of providing 150 laptops by November 2026.

Community Partnerships Fueling Success

Our progress is possible thanks to strong referral partnerships with agencies across the county, including:

  • Lakeshore CAP
  • The Crossing of Manitowoc County
  • Lakeshore College
  • Lighthouse Recovery Community Center
  • The Salvation Army of Manitowoc County
  • Head Start
  • InCourage

These organizations help us connect with individuals who can benefit most from having a reliable laptop at home.

Real Stories. Real Impact.

Behind every laptop is a story and often, a turning point.

A mother helping her 11-year-old thrive in math.

Without a computer, practicing skills or accessing online learning tools was nearly impossible. Now, mother and chilc can work side-by-side, using interactive exercises to build confidence and skills together.

A single mom pursuing an associate degree in accounting.

With her new laptop, she can complete coursework, submit assignments, and stay on track toward career advancement, all while balancing family and work.

A community member in long-term recovery rebuilding their future.

Filling out job applications on a phone was stressful and limiting. A laptop now allows for better resume building, easier applications, and participation in online job skills training.

A resident gaining control of their finances.

Personal budgeting tools, online banking, and financial literacy resources are finally accessible on a full screen, helping them work toward long-term stability.

Looking Ahead

With continued demand and ongoing device shipments, the Techquity program will keep expanding its reach throughout Manitowoc County. As we move toward our November 2026 goal, we remain committed to ensuring that everyonehas the tools they need to succeed in today’s digital world.

If your organization is interested in partnering, or if you know someone who could benefit from the program, please reach out. Together, we’re working toward a more connected, more equitable community.
