Celebrate Holi here at the museum with a fun watercolor activity where we spray all the colors of the rainbow to create a mixed media masterpiece!

For Women’s History Month, we highlight Brazilian artist Beatriz Milhazes, known for her vibrant abstract paintings inspired by her roots. Using collage, we’ll explore her use of bright colors and repeating shapes to create engaging art.

Building Bridges: Roma Agrawal

Build like a pro! Inspired by Roma Agrawal, the superstar engineer behind some of the UK’s most iconic skyscrapers, come channel your inner architect—grab some recycled cardboard and everyday materials to construct your own gravity-defying buildings and super-strong bridges. Let’s see what you can create!

Alma Thomas Collaborative Mural

To continue celebrating Women's History Month, we are looking at the work of Alma Thomas, who created amazing abstract paintings using beautiful colors. We will create our own collaborative mural at the museum inspired by her work throughout the week.

February 2026 Highlights

Black History Month - Innovators and creators

The Museum honored Black History Month in February by celebrating Black luminaries through a vibrant mix of science, art, and live performances. The month was anchored by an incredible lineup of guest artists, including Elevé Dance Theater, who led families in a joyful exploration of rhythm and culture through movement. We also welcomed author Janelle Harper for a "Salon Saturday" session focused on Bronx pride and heritage, and Resident Artist CG Esperanza, who helped visitors turn wild ideas into amazing street art creations. These guests, alongside activities inspired by icons like inventor George Edward Alcorn Jr. musician and artist Louis Armstrong, allowed our community to connect deeply with Black history through hands-on creativity.

National Caregiver's Day

We were honored to host NYS Office of Children and Family Services Commissioner Harris-Madden on #NationalCaregiversDay. It was a privilege to provide a space for such a critical discussion regarding the Governor’s FY27 Executive Budget and the future of support for New York families.
